Christina Aguilera’s Focus on ‘Looking Good’ Is Reportedly Straining Her Relationship With Matt Rutler
Christina Aguilera’s “sexy” look has reportedly come with a cost. An insider says the “Lady Marmalade” singer’s focus on her “hot body” is taking a toll on her and fiancé Matt Rutler’s relationship. While it’s said to be “doing a number” on Rutler, the former judge on The Voice “doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem.”
Aguilera’s ‘sexy’ look is a problem in her relationship with Matt Rutler
Aguilera, 43, is “all about looking as sexy as she can these days,” an insider told Life & Style. “She’s constantly showing off her body and parading around in skin-tight clothes. Most people probably assume she’s got a hot sex life to go with her hot body, but it’s actually the total opposite. Apparently, she and Matt used to have a way better sex life. But these days it’s DOA [dead on arrival] because she’s just never in the mood.”
Rutler and Aguilera got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2014 and later welcomed a daughter, Summer Rain. The “Fighter” singer also shares a son, Max, with her ex-husband, Jordan Bratman, whom she was married to from 2005 to 2011.
“It’s not something that’s ever been an issue in their relationship before so of course Matt is blaming her drastic weight loss,” the source continued. “Plus, although Christina denies taking Ozempic or any of the other weight loss drugs, decreased libido is one of the possible side effects so it’s not hard to put two and two together.”
Rutler wants Aguilera to ‘start acting like herself again’
While the “Genie in a Bottle” singer “doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem,” her supposedly appearance-first approach is an issue to Rutler.
“She’s so caught up in looking good and all the stuff going on with her career,” the source continued. “But it’s certainly doing a number on Matt.”
“He feels like their connection’s just not the same as it used to be. He’s been complaining to friends and saying he wishes she’d gain some weight and start acting like herself again.”
Another source told the outlet that “Christina has been losing weight for the past year and is feeling more confident than she has in ages.” However, they also claimed Aguilera does feel “pressure to compete with the younger pop stars.”
Aguilera has yet to address the speculation about her appearance
The Grammy winner hasn’t commented publicly on her change in appearance including speculation about the use of weight loss medication. Although she told Glamour in an August 2024 cover interview that after having her self-esteem tied directly to “how skinny” she was as a teen, she’s reached a point in her life where “other people’s opinions” don’t matter.
“I have a maturity now where I just don’t give a f**k about your opinion,” Aguilera said. “I’m not going to take it on. It must be your responsibility to take up your space. Other people’s opinions of me are not my business.”
