Christina Haack: What the HGTV Star Eats in a Day
TL;DR:
- What Christina Haack eats is mostly “very clean, organic” foods.
- The Christina on the Coast star indulges occasionally but doesn’t “torture” herself about it.
- What Christina Haack eats changed slightly following “autoimmune issues.”
Ever wonder what Christina Haack eats? Over the years the HGTV star’s provided details on what she eats throughout the day. Whether she’s filming Christina on the Coast or chasing after her three children the 38-year-old makes fueling her body with fruits and vegetables a priority.
Christina Haack eats 5 small meals a day
Haack told People in March 2017 that she follows a “very clean, organic diet.” The mother of three continued, saying because her kids have food allergies they all try to “limit gluten and dairy.”
So what does that look like for the TV star? Smaller meals throughout the day with lots of greens and chocolate after dinner.
“I eat five small meals a day that usually consist of overnight oats for breakfast, a green juice for a snack, salad with a protein for lunch, granola bar as a snack, and then a healthy dinner of chicken or salmon and veggies, tacos or vegan chili,” Haack said. “For a little dessert, I love Justin’s Organic Mini Peanut Butter Cups — delish!”
Haack also described coffee with cream and Stevia as a morning necessity during an interview with Cara Clark Nutrition. Her other go-to beverage is water and lots of it. The star of the upcoming Christina in the Country said she aims to stay hydrated by sipping on water throughout the day.
The HGTV star is all about ‘everything in moderation’
Although Haack’s diet centers around fruits, vegetables, and lean protein she doesn’t stick to clean eating all the time. “Nutrition is very important to me for both my own health and wellness, but also for my children,” she told People. “It’s all about everything in moderation. If I want a glass of wine I’m going to have it, or some chocolate — sure why not!”
Haack also told Life & Style she follows the “90/10” rule of eating. “90 percent of the time I follow my usual healthy eating routine, but if it’s a date night or girls’ night out I’ll go for that slice of pretzel bread or dirty martini and not torture myself over it,” she said.
Christina Haack’s diet is ‘constantly evolving’
After experiencing intense stomach pain Haack later revealed health issues stemming from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, or PCOS, and Hashimoto’s Disease. As she told Parade in June 2020 the autoimmune disorders meant changing her diet. And, as she explained, like most people what she eats is “constantly evolving.”
For now, the Flip or Flop alum sticks to “clean” eating. “I don’t eat fast food, I don’t eat fried food, and I eat tons of fruits and vegetables,” she said, adding that “healthy salads and nut butters” are on the menu but not “anything processed.”
