On Mother’s Day, May 8, Christina Haack revealed in an Instagram post that her oldest son, 6-year-old Brayden El Moussa, had emergency surgery over the holiday weekend.
“Scary 12 hours for us parents + step parents. After being admitted to the ER, Brayden had to have an emergency appendectomy as well as removal of Meckel’s diverticulum early this morning,” the HGTV star captioned a photo of Brayden in a hospital bed.
“Nothing like seeing your child in excruciating pain 😣..luckily the surgery went well and he is recovering and in good spirits,” Haack wrote. “… Blessed to have 3 healthy + happy kids, caring family and friends and a husband who stands by my side. Happy Mother’s Day everyone. 🤍”
Tarek El Moussa’s new wife, Selling Sunset star Heather Rae Young, also shared an emotional Instagram post about Brayden’s health emergency.
“Today @therealtarekelmoussa and I were woken up to a call that as a parent & step parent you never want to wake up to,” Young wrote. “Christina & Josh rushed Bray to the hospital very early this AM.” She shared some of the details of Brayden’s surgery before writing, “Scariest day of our life but we are so thankful it was caught early.”
The Netflix star added, “Times like these we ban together as a family. It’s been a very emotional day but he is doing well and recovering. 🤍❤️”

On May 9, Heather Rae Young gave fans an update on how Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa’s son is doing after his emergency surgery on Mother’s Day. She posted a photo of herself with Brayden and Tarek in the background to her Instagram Stories.
“We just left little man, he’s in pain but he’s a strong boy and he’s getting discharged today, “ Young captioned the photo, adding a prayer hands emoji and a white heart emoji. “We all pulled together as a family during this stressful time.”
The Selling Sunset star wrote, “The kids will always be the main priority to all of us!” and tagged both Christina and Tarek on the post. Young also reshared the updates Haack posted in her Instagram Stories.

“Stressful 24 hours but a good reminder how important teamwork/co-parenting is,” Haack wrote over a photo of Brayden in the hospital. “We are all under pressure but when it really matters we were all there for Brayden doing our part.”
Haack, who is currently embroiled in a custody battle with her second husband, Ant Anstead, continued, “Sometimes a scary situation can be a good wake up call. In the end all the other stuff is just ‘noise’, what matters is the kids.” She tagged Young, El Moussa, and her current husband, Joshua Hall, in the photo.
The HGTV star later shared a photo of Brayden snuggling on a couch with his two siblings, Taylor El Moussa and Hudson Anstead. “Resting with the siblings,” she wrote, adding a prayer hands emoji and a red heart emoji.
