While Sister Wives fans are watching the events of 2022 unfold on the show’s 19th season right now, there is some real-time drama going on, too. Things have turned legal between Christine Brown and her former spiritual husband, Kody Brown. Christine Brown, now remarried and living in Utah, has filed a petition with the court to establish paternity of her youngest child; she’s also seeking child support. Truely Brown, Christine’s youngest child, is 14 and currently resides in Utah with Christine and her new husband, David Woolley.

Christine Brown files to establish paternity, she asks for child support

Christine Brown made a bold move this week. According to the Ashley Reality Roundup Group, The mother of six and reality TV star has filed paperwork to establish Truely Brown’s paternity. While Kody and Christine were spiritually wed at the time of Truely’s birth, they were never legally married. In the petition, Christine requests child support and help setting up a visitation schedule.

A lawyer is representing Christine. Kody has not submitted information about his legal representation. We have yet to determine where Kody Brown is currently residing. He and his legal wife, Robyn Brown, made news late last month when they listed their Flagstaff, Arizona home for sale. The property is currently listed for $1.6 million. It is unclear if Kody and Robyn’s decision to list their home is in any way connected to Christine’s bid for child support.

While the Brown family has never opened up about whether or not a father is named on their children’s birth certificates, fans of the series have long suspected the father of 18 only appears on the birth certificate for his child with Meri Brown. They were legally married when they welcomed Leon Brown together.

How many children do Christine Brown and Kody Brown have together?

Christine Brown and Kody Brown share six children, but Christine is seeking to establish paternity for only Truely Brown. That’s likely because Truely is currently Christine’s only minor child. Christine and Kody’s next youngest child, Ysabel Brown, turned 21 in June.

Christine and Kody are also parents to Gwendlyn Queiroz, 22, Paedon Brown, 26, Mykelti Padron, 28, and Aspyn Thompson, 29. Mykelti Padron was one of the only Brown family members who maintained a relationship with Kody and Robyn Brown. She has since moved to North Carolina. While Mykelti shares the family tea on YouTube and Patreon, she has not discussed her mother’s bid for child support. Gwendlyn Brown, who also creates content around her famous family, hasn’t mentioned the filing, either.

Season 19 of Sister Wives premiered on Sept. 15. The season will include footage of Christine’s early relationship with her now-husband, David.
