Christine Brown’s Romance With David Woolley Isn’t Getting the Response TLC Likely Expected
Christine Brown spent more than a decade being a reality TV fan favorite. Sister Wives viewers have spent the last several seasons defending the mother of six and cheering her on as she left her plural marriage behind and found new love. Now that her romance is being aired on the series, the tables are turning.
Instead of being a champion for other women and an example of how to take control of your life, she’s come across as snarky, bitter, and, frankly, more than a bit immature. TLC likely thought featuring her romance with David Woolley would lead to excellent ratings for the longstanding reality series. It’s not happening. Scenes involving the couple are being skipped, and a new fan favorite is emerging.
‘Sister Wives’ fans are skipping Christine Brown’s scenes
Christine Brown isn’t gaining any fans in season 19 of Sister Wives. In fact, it appears her romance with David Woolley is largely disliked by fans of the series. Since Woolley was introduced to fans, several Reddit posts have appeared, discussing the couple’s sometimes inappropriate behavior and how quickly the relationship moved.
A more recent post revealed that many fans who formerly supported Christine Brown are starting to see some less-than-ideal characteristics. Those who still love the mother of six aren’t hanging around to watch scenes of her love life, either.
Several Reddit users pointed out that while they love Christine, they skip scenes about her relationship because of secondhand embarrassment. The TV personality’s more ardent critics largely believe she was irresponsible for introducing a man she had only recently begun dating to her children, including Truely Brown.
The weird dynamic and over-the-top PDAs might have had producers think they’d hit gold. The opposite is true. If TLC was considering a spinoff featuring the couple, they should start rethinking it.
Who has emerged as a new fan favorite on ‘Sister Wives’?
While Christine’s scenes with David Woolley are being passed by, viewers are honing in on scenes including Meri Brown. Several Reddit users pointed out that they’ve been enjoying Meri’s commentary during the show’s most recent season, a stark change from just a couple of seasons ago. Meri was disliked during the series’ earlier seasons, but now that she’s left Kody Brown behind, she seems fresher, lighter, and much funnier.
Janelle Brown still has plenty of fans, too. Fans remain invested in her separation and her future plans. Janelle’s storyline with her daughter, Maddie Brush, has been most interesting to viewers this season. If TLC opts to go forward with a 20th season, a heavy focus on Janelle and Meri might be for the best.
