Christopher Plummer, a prolific actor of the stage and screen, has died at the age of 91. In his lifetime, he brought several memorable characters to life. Arguably the most iconic was Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music. Though Plummer openly disliked his famous role, he helped make the musical one of the most popular movies of all time and one that is well-loved by children and adults alike. And it seems that talent runs in Plummer’s bloodline.
It’s not that uncommon for children of celebrities to pursue the same line of work as their famous parents. Certainly, the media isn’t shy about calling out nepotism as they see fit. However, occasionally, fans fail to make the connection between successful children and successful parents. A good example of this is Plummer’s daughter, Amanda Plummer. Amanda is the only child of Christopher and his ex-wife, Tammy Grimes, an actor to whom he was married for four years.

Amanda, of course, is talented in her own right and, like her father, has found success in huge films. Two of her most memorable films are, of course, Pulp Fiction and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. In Pulp Fiction, Amanda played the role of Yolanda aka “Honey Bunny.” Honey Bunny, of course, was Ringo’s girlfriend and partner and crime. Fans of the movie will recall the scene of Amanda holding a gun with rage filling her eyes.
In The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Amanda, executed the character of Wiress to perfection. The tribute was often underestimated because she was older, but her ingenious thinking and inventiveness made her a fantastic ally to Katniss Everdeen during The Quarter Quell. Like her father, Christopher, Amanda’s talents have graced more than the big screen. Her TV and stage resumes are quite expansive and impressive as well.

Despite sharing her father’s last name, some of Christopher and Amanda’s fans are just now making the connection that they are related. “Are Christopher Plummer and Amanda Plummer related” has become a common Google inquiry. Furthermore, when the news broke that Christopher had died, many fans finally began making the connection that Amanda was his child.
“So sad about this, what a life and career,” one person wrote on Oh No They Didn’t after reading the news of Christopher’s death. “I know he wasn’t fond of The Sound of Music, to say the least, but he really touched so many people with that performance, it was my go-to comfort movie during a pretty bad time. I also didn’t realize until today that Amanda Plummer was his daughter.”
The acting legacy continues
“How…did I not know this?” another person said in response to learning that Amanda is Christopher’s daughter. “Googling her now and she def looks like him too. Smh @ me.” Clearly, Amanda shared more than Christopher’s genetics, she also shares his talent for acting as well. While the world will certainly mourn the loss of the late actor, at least there is another Plummer to continue his legacy.
