The ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 3 Finale Has a Hint for Season 4, Creators Say
Cobra Kai surprised fans with the recent announcement they had completed Season 4. The creators had shared some tidbits during production, complete with COVID-19 safety protocols. However, they officially wrapped on April 29. Of course, now they have post-production and then we’ll wait for Netflix to schedule the season premiere.
[Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers for the first three seasons of Cobra Kai.]
Co-creator Josh Heald spoke on a Paley Front Row panel for Cobra Kai, recorded during production on Season 3. The cast and creators were mum on Season 4 news, but Heald offered one hint you can find in the ending of season 3.
‘Cobra Kai’ Season 4 starts in a much more triumphant place than season 3
Cobra Kai fans waited nearly two years for season 3. After season 2 premiered on YouTube, season 3 was delayed as they moved the show to Netflix. Considering the cliffhanger was Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) unconscious in the hospital after the high school fight, that was a tense wait. Fortunately, Heald said, they didn’t leave season 3 hanging on such a dire note.
All I can say is it was really important for us to end Season 3 the way we did with kind of like ‘yeah!’ as a feeling as opposed to ‘ugh,’ where Season 2 went. We want to deliver on that feeling. We want to keep providing the dopamine that generates that good feeling. We want to make sure we’re delivering on goosebumps, on tears, on belly laughs, and fist pumps. It’s the same recipe with different tastes and everything else, but it’s even bigger. So we’re really, really proud of what we’re making so far. I can’t wait for you to see what everybody’s doing.”

The Season 3 development that promises an exciting Season 4
Season 3 still ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, but not one that questions the life of one of the main characters. Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) formed his own dojo after John Kreese (Martin Kove) took over Cobra Kai. He kept some students in the newly formed Eagle Fang.
The big news of the Cobra Kai Season 3 finale was that Eagle Fang teamed up with Miyagi-Do to take on Cobra Kai at the next All Valley Karate Tournament. Johnny and Daniel (Ralph Macchio) began as rivals and enemies. They’ve had ups and downs in the first three seasons of Cobra Kai but the season 3 finale finally promised the team up Karate Kid fans have been waiting for.
The ‘Cobra Kai’ cast is putting everything into Season 4
Joining Heald on the panel were Macchio, Zabka, Maridueña, Courtney Henggeler and co-creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. Heald commended them all for their efforts on Cobra Kai Season 4.
“I can say every single person on this Zoom right now is probably as exhausted as I look because of what we’ve been filming right now and what we have ahead of us for the next little while here,” Heald said.
