Who Is Coco Gauff’s Boyfriend?
Coco Gauff is one of the biggest young stars in tennis. She won the U.S. Open when she was 19, becoming the first American teenager to do so since Serena Williams did in 1999.
In July 2024, Gauff made her Olympic debut and was chosen to be Team USA‘s flagbearer alongside NBA superstar LeBron James during the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Now, with so many eyes on her, fans want to know more about Gauff, including who she’s in a relationship with.
Gauff has tried to keep her dating life private
During a 2024 profile piece with Time, Gauff admitted that she is in a relationship, but that’s about all she admitted.
She told the publication that she’s been seeing someone for over a year but did not give her partner’s name.
“This is my first real relationship,” Gauff said. She also made it known that her boyfriend was not involved in her sport. “To just have someone to talk to who is not involved in tennis at all gives me a fresh perspective.”
Fans think they know who her mystery man is
While Gauff did not reveal her boyfriend’s identity, many fans are convinced that she’s dating Jalen Sera. That’s because of the little bit she did reveal about her beau in other interviews.
In addition to him not being a tennis player, Gauff mentioned during a cover story with Vogue that the person she’s dating is from her hometown of Atlanta. Sera isn’t an athlete; he’s a guitar player who does hail from Atlanta.
“Some people thought it was someone in tennis and that couldn’t be further from the truth,” Gauff stated before adding, “He’s a very nice guy. He’s in school now. He’s about to apply for music school. He wants to be an actor and he plays the guitar.”
Gauff also joked that she appreciated the fact that her boyfriend didn’t play professional tennis after seeing the movie Challengers. The film stars Zendaya who played Tashi, a ruthless tennis player in a love triangle with two other tennis players. “I told my boyfriend, ‘Thank God you don’t play tennis,’ because [Tashi Duncan is] right, I would not want to date a scrub on tour,” she quipped via ESPNW.
However, Gauff told reporters that her boyfriend is the person she can turn to calm her nerves whenever she’s thinking too much about a match or winning a tournament saying: “I just called my boyfriend, and I told him let’s talk until it’s time to go to sleep so we spoke until 1:00 a.m. and then I went to sleep.”
Gauff and Sera have not appeared on social media together but they do interact with one another on Instagram and X by liking and commenting on each other’s posts.

We also know that Gauff’s mother, Candi, approves of her daughter’s partner. She was actually his 4th-grade teacher and had this to say: “If they’re bad in school, they’re probably bad as adults. He’s always been a smart, nice kid.”

According to Gauff, her beau might start attending some of her tournaments when she plays in the U.S., telling People: “My boyfriend, he’ll probably come to maybe some tournaments in the U.S. It’s just a little bit easier than coming to Europe.”
