Cole Sprouse Reveals His Crush on BTS and ARMY Welcomes the ‘Riverdale’ Star With Open Arms
One of the most fulfilling experiences as a longtime BTS fan is the growing number of ARMY in recent years — specifically, the increasing amount of love openly displayed by American celebrities. Of course, this isn’t just a testament to BTS’s breakout success. The recognition also allows the K-pop group’s platform to be spread among a wider range of individuals who may not have heard about BTS otherwise — despite their massive impact in the music industry already. Now, Cole Sprouse has opened up about his crush on BTS. And it seems ARMY is ready to welcome the actor with open arms.
Cole Sprouse talks about his ‘bro crush’ on BTS
Although Sprouse is currently known for his role in Riverdale, alongside KJ Apa and girlfriend Lili Reinhart, older fans probably remember the actor as Cody on Disney’s The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Sprouse also appeared as Ross Geller’s (David Schwimmer) son on Friends.
On Nov. 10, Sprouse spoke with Hollywire after winning Choice Drama Actor at the People’s Choice Awards. As fans may have noticed, his win happened before all of BTS’s snubs at the award show. However, Sprouse expressed his love and support for BTS, gushing over the K-pop group as one of his “bro crushes.”
Initially, Sprouse named Apa as his “bro crush,” since the actors locked eyes at the PCAs. He then mentioned his actual twin brother, Dylan Sprouse, and called Chris Hemsworth “a pretty cool man.”
Cole then revealed he is a big fan of the BTS septet, which includes members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
“The entire crew of BTS,” Sprouse said. The 27-year-old actor also shared he is a big fan of K-pop as a whole. “You know, you just got to love the K-pop dude. I love K-pop,” he said, quickly breaking out in a fit of laughs with a wide grin spanning from ear-to-ear.
BTS fans react to Cole Sprouse’s comments about BTS
After Hollywire released the video of Sprouse’s statements about BTS and K-pop, ARMY was more than ready to voice their excitement on social media.
“I feel like my two worlds are colliding my childhood and adulthood crushes,” a fan wrote on Twitter. “Nothing can be more wholesome than this.”
“He’s got good taste,” another fan wrote on Reddit. “He’s actually a professional photographer as well, I’m sure he appreciates their visuals and concepts.”
Meanwhile, fans of Sprouse and BTS shared that the shoutout was — dare we say it — serendipitous, as Sprouse starred in Friends, the very show that helped leader RM learn English.
“Someone tell Joonie that Ross’s son Ben likes them,” a fan commented on Reddit.
Many BTS fans also reminded others that Sprouse has hinted at his ARMY status before. Sprouse’s side Instagram account, camera_duels, only follows one account — BTS.
“Cole Sprouse has a bro crush on ‘the entire crew of @BTS_twt‘ confirmed. Let’s not forget that BTS is the only one he follows on his 2nd official IG acct,” one fan tweeted.
“This hits different when u know that cole sprouse has an instagram account of 5 million followers where he only follows 1 person which is BTS,” another ARMY wrote.
Other celebrities who recently opened up about loving BTS
Now, Sprouse isn’t the only American celebrity who has opened up about their ARMY status. In fact, the actor isn’t even the only one to mention BTS this week.
On Nov. 5, longtime BTS fan, John Cena, revealed that BTS’s “Fire” will play in his new film, Playing with Fire with an Instagram post featuring RM and J-Hope from the “Fire” music video. The following day, Cena shared why he wanted to include the song to the film’s soundtrack.
Cena wrote: “I’ve said before, I admire the message @bts_bighit sends thru music. @BTS_ARMY you’ll hear some familiar “Fire” in #PlayingWithFireMovie OUT FRIDAY! Thank you @andyfickman for using a favorite song of mine! (Only because RM wears jorts in the video)”
Then on Nov. 12, Fresh Off the Boat star, Randall Park, gushed over BTS. In case you didn’t know, Park previously made a relatable statement about crying at a BTS concert. And ultimately, he confirmed he was unashamed of his tears and being a fan of the K-pop group. Now, this time around. Park revealed that RM is his BTS bias.
“I think RM is my bias,” Park said. “I love them all. But I really like RM because he’s the leader and he’s such a good leader. You can tell he loves those guys so much. He cares about then and looks out for them and … I just respect him a lot.”
And on Nov. 11, The Bachelorette alum, Hannah Brown, danced to BTS’s “Boy With Luv” on Dancing With the Stars, alongside her partner, Alan Bersten. Then following her performance on the popular ABC series, Brown expressed her love for the song and admiration for the BTS members.
“This was the first time I had heard this song, and now we, like, love this song,” Brown told Entertainment Tonight. “They’re amazing at what they do. They’re great dancers, great performers, and they’re the big boy band [of] our time.”
