Colin Kaepernick Just Scored Another Huge Deal Off the Field
Colin Kaepernick has remained on his quest to get another shot at continuing his NFL career. Kaepernick‘s journey down that path has had many bumps in the road, but that hasn’t stopped his socially-conscious actions. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback has now garnered another unique partnership.
Colin Kaepnerick staying socially active away from football
Colin Kaepernick hasn’t been on an active NFL roster in a few years, but that hasn’t stopped him from remaining socially active.
Kaepernick has used his platform to bring attention to the many social injustices that continue to hamper the country. His Know Your Rights Camp has also helped during this difficult time in 2020 dealing with COVID-19. He helped set up a relief fund for people impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, to which the former star quarterback donated $100,000.
He has received continued support from his sponsors, including Nike, who has billed him as one of their prominent athletes. These actions have now led to a unique partnership with a renowned ice cream company.
Colin Kaepernick teams up with Ben & Jerrys
Despite his NFL career remaining on pause, Colin Kaepernick continues to stay active in his life away from football.
The bulk of his work focused on bringing attention to social injustices in the country. His actions have led to another high-profile partnership with Ben & Jerrys, a well-known ice cream and frozen yogurt company.
Kaepernick announced the move through his social media accounts on Thursday that 100% of the proceeds will be going to his Know Your Rights Camp, which he started in Oakland, CA, in 2016 that works to “advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities.”
The camp has a 10-point system that works with Black and brown people having their rights to be free, healthy, safe, loved, courageous, alive, trusted, educated, brilliant, and knowing their rights. Ben & Jerrys has been quite active in the last several months toward helping bring awareness to social injustice in the country.
The new non-dairy flavor of ice cream, Change the Whirled, will begin selling in early 2021. Kaepernick’s flavor will have a caramel Non-Dairy sunflower butter base with fudge chips, graham cracker swirls, and chocolate cookie swirls.
Will he get another NFL opportunity?
Beyond the continued success off the field, Colin Kaepernick remains focused on getting another opportunity to continue his NFL career.
Kaepernick hasn’t played a single down since the 2016 season when he played for the San Francisco 49ers. Since then, he hasn’t had an opportunity to compete for a roster spot over the last few years. The chatter has certainly stayed around him, especially when teams elect to bring in other quarterbacks with less qualified resumes.
The 32-year-old continues to reiterate that he wants another shot to play in the league. He has posted workouts on social media several times to showcase that he keeps himself in shape and ready to go for his next shot.
Kaepernick held a workout last November, but that has been met with any tryouts for any team. The conversation ramped up due to the social injustices in the United States. However, all of that hasn’t led to any team bringing him in to compete for a roster spot.
These hurdles haven’t guided Kaepernick away from his firm intentions but rather only strengthened his internal push. All it takes is one team to give him an opportunity, and he’s waiting to receive that chance.
