Who Is Commanders Quarterback Jayden Daniels’ Sports Agent Mother Regina Jackson?
After a successful college career, which included winning the Heisman Trophy, quarterback Jayden Daniels was selected by the Washington Commanders with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He has provided stability at the position for a team that since 2000, has had 27 different starting quarterbacks.
Jayden made the Pro Bowl in his rookie season and led the Commanders to the playoffs for the first time since 2020. He also helped the team to its first 11-win season since 1991.
Jayden is considered a dual-threat quarterback for his accuracy in throwing the ball and his ability to run by defenders with quick speed. Some have even compared the young signal-caller to Lamar Jackson.
Someone else who has been very popular in the D.C. area since Jayden Daniels’ arrival is his mom, Regina Jackson. Here’s more about the athlete and his sports agent mother.
Who are Jayden Daniels’ parents?
Jayden was born on Dec. 18, 2000, to Jackson and former college football cornerback Javon “Jay” Daniels in San Bernardino, California.
Jayden wrote in a letter for The Players’ Tribune about where he grew up sharing: “I’m not gonna say it was bad, but there was violence and gang stuff everywhere … There’d be some fights, obviously. But in the background, some kids were starting to become affiliated with gangs, thinking they’re this and that.
“I don’t think my parents ever worried about me going that way, to be honest. My mom and my dad didn’t play that. I also just wasn’t a kid that was easily influenced to do things. But I mean, there was always a worry. You could always end up in the wrong situation, wrong place, wrong time.”
Jayden followed in his father’s footsteps and began playing football at a young age.
“My dad played Division 1 football,” he told reporters. “He coached me, so football has always been in my hands. He inspired me and then going from there [I] just fell in love with the game.”
Jackson had been working to get certified as a sports agent since her son was in college
Jayden has always said that both of his parents are his biggest supporters.
When speaking specifically about his mom, Jayden told The Pivot podcast: “My mother has never missed a game. If it’s raining out there, she’s going to be out there. If it’s [negative] degrees, she’s going to be out there standing up the whole time making sure she’s cheering me on.”
In fact Jackson, who holds an MBA in concentration entrepreneurship and a master’s in public services administration, had been working since her son was in college to get certified as a sports agent.
To become an agent an individual must hold both an undergraduate and postgraduate degree (master’s or law) from an accredited institution. The process also requires a non-refundable $2,500 fee, passing a background check, and attending virtual seminars before taking the exam.
In 2024, Jackson achieved her goal of becoming a certified agent.
“For her, taking the agent’s test is because she wants to be knowledgeable and helping her son and guiding him through his NFL career,” Denise White, a public relations specialist who works with Jayden and his family, said per CBS Sports. “It’s important for her to have all that knowledge so she can give her son guidance, which will help him focus on the field and she can help focus off the field for him.”
