It’s been more than four years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their roles within the royal family. And while many hoped that time would heal their wounds, it hasn’t. The claims the couple made about the royals during their televised interview with Oprah Winfrey, in their Netflix docuseries, and in Harry’s memoir Spare haven’t helped relations either.

Now, the Sussexes are trying to change their strategy. But people have questioned if they went too far and caused too much damage to even repair their own images. At least one royal commentator thinks so.

Commentator says ‘too much damage was done’ when Harry and Meghan tried to take down the royals

Kinsey Schofield, who hosts the To Di for Daily podcast and her YouTube channel Unfiltered, spoke to Talk TV about how the duke and duchess “jeopardized” their future with the failed strategy to try and take down Britain’s royal family.

Schofield said: “How many times have they changed direction and teams? They blow through teams and they go through different strategies. Right now we are seeing them in their faux royal strategy.

“I feel like this began when they opened a facility in San Diego a few months ago. Then we saw this Nigeria trip, they’re talking about doing more. They’re trying to remind people of why they fell in love with them in the first place but too much damage has been done. Because their first strategy was to come out guns blazing and take down the British royal family.”

The commentator continued: “They signed contracts, they signed their souls away to Netflix, they signed their souls away to Penguin Random House with the book Spare and they had expectations they had to meet for the dollar. And not only did they lose very important family members in the process, as in Prince William and King Charles, but they jeopardized their relationship with the public.”

Relations between the Sussexes and the royals are as ‘bad as they’ve ever been’

Speaking of Prince William and King Charles, some royal watchers were surprised that Prince Harry did not see his father or his brother during his recent trip to London for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. However, insiders close to William and the monarch have revealed that relations between Harry and his family at this time are non-existent.

One of the Prince of Wales’ friends previously told the Daily Beast that William has not forgiven his brother as he “feels utterly betrayed … He hates him for what he has done to the family in the books and interviews … It’s no secret William would prefer it if Harry never stepped foot in England again.”

Another source told the publication that Harry and his father are not close to a reconciliation either saying: “Relations are as bad as they have ever been. Nothing has been resolved. But Charles does not spend a great deal of time dwelling on the matter because he is so busy.”
