The Marvel Cinematic Universepost-Avengers: Endgame continues to veer into more complex territories. The Multiverse of Madness is set to disrupt the very fabric of reality. WandaVision is in place to bring Vision back to life. And now, Doctor Strange will reportedly join Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Man film. Consequentially, seemingly far-fetched rumors have been circling the web-slinger’s franchise.

As ScreenRant notes, Sony recently shot down rumors that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire would reprise their Spidey characters. Yet, would the studio confirm such rumors if the appeal is in the shock value?

For the sake of argumentation, let’s say Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield sign on to play alternate versions of Peter Parker in the MCU. How would such introductions alter the future of the landscape, and how would the writers choose to present all Parkers — in different iterations at different points in life?

Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker would likely be a full-grown adult in the MCU

Tobey Maguire’s version of Peter Parker first hit the silver screen back in 2002; meaning, it will about two decades since he first masked up when Holland’s next Spidey film premieres.

If Maguire’s Peter Parker appears in the MCU in the present timeline, he will likely be close to Maguire’s real age of 45. Suppose Marvel and Sony agreed to feature all three Peter Parkers; in that case, they will likely serve to represent different versions of Parker — boasting different romantic partners, as well as unique life circumstances and backstories. Garfield and Maguire’s Parkers could end up serving supporting purposes — helping to groom and guide Holland’s Parker toward an ideal future.

Yet, Maguire’s Parker arguably boasts the most famous comic book romance — the only with Mary Jane. And, this is the romance that, in the comics, leads to a web-slinging daughter.

How May ‘Mayday’ Parker could join the superhero soiree

If Tobey Maguire’s Parker is an adult, and he is already post-marriage with Mary Jane following Spider-Man 3, he will likely have a daughter. May ‘Mayday’ Parker is the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane in the comics. And, she could be just a few years younger than Holland’s Parker depending on how the writers choose to toy with the MCU timeline.

Like her father, May Parker is also able to crawl up walls, while possessing the speed, agility, and strength of a spider. She also boasts the signature “spidey-sense” that allows her to detect imminent danger. If Tobey joins the MCU’s next Spidey flick, one of the several versions of Spider-Woman could become part of the MCU, and it could be the one Peter Parker raises himself (just not Holland’s Parker).
