‘Counting On’ 2021: Will There Be a New Season of the Duggar Family’s Reality Show?
What’s up with the Duggars? It’s been a few months since viewers last saw the Counting On family on TLC. Season 11 of their reality show ended in September 2020. Now, fans are wondering when the series is returning to TV or if the long-running program might be canceled.
TLC hasn’t announced a new season of ‘Counting On’
The last episode of Counting On aired on Sept. 22. In the season finale, Jinger Duggar and her husband Jeremy Vuolo had a virtual gender reveal announcement for their second baby. Then, Jinger’s younger brother Justin Duggar announced that he was courting Claire Spivey. (Courting is the Duggar term for dating. It’s usually the first step toward an eventual engagement and marriage.)
The show has been on hiatus since that episode. So far, TLC hasn’t made any announcements about whether it will be returning for another season.
“When is the new season of counting on coming back on @tlc do U or your family know?” one of Jana Duggar’s Instagram followers recently asked.
No announcement from TLC about the show’s status is not necessarily a cause for concern for fans. The network often doesn’t announce that a series has been renewed until just a few weeks before the premiere date. There was a 7-month gap between season 10 and season 11, and a similar break between season 9 and 10. Based on that pattern, we might see new Counting On episodes around April 2021.
A post on the Duggar family’s official Instagram account hinted that new episodes are in the works — and that they might be available on the new streaming service discovery+.
What might happen with the Duggar family in ‘Counting On’ Season 12?
Assuming that Counting On is renewed, there will be no shortage of events to cover in season 12.
Joy-Anna Duggar and her husband Austin Forsyth welcomed their second child in August, a daughter named Evelyn. That same month, Kendra and Joe Duggar announced they were expecting their third child. Her due date is in February 2021. Jinger also gave birth to her daughter Evangeline Jo in late November 2020.
In one more big piece of baby news, Jessa Duggar and her husband Ben Seewald announced in a Feb. 18 Instagram post that they were expecting baby no. 4. The baby is due sometime in summer 2021. The couple also shared they had experienced a miscarriage last year.
The Duggars are also getting ready to celebrate another marriage. Not long after announcing her was courting Claire, Justin revealed the pair would be getting married. The news raised eyebrows among some viewers given that Justin was just 17 years old when he popped the question to his girlfriend. Justin and Claire will say “I do” on April 16, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas. It will be the first wedding in the family since John David Duggar and Abbie Grace Burnett got married November 2018.
