‘Counting On’: Jessa Duggar’s Husband, Ben Seewald, Proves He Does More Housework Than Other Duggar Men
The Duggar family operates much more traditionally than most American families. Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar raised their children in a household where the father goes to work and the mother cares for the kids, and they expect their own children’s family dynamics to be the same. While this is largely the case, Ben Seewald just confirmed that he definitely helps out around the house.
Most of the Duggars have very traditional gender roles
Now that several of Michelle and Jim Bob’s kids are grown and have started families of their own, we’ve been able to see how their own family dynamics work. And it’s clear that many of them are sticking to the traditional gender roles. Josh and Anna Duggar have essentially followed in Michelle and Jim Bob’s footsteps, as have Joe and Kendra Duggar; Kendra has already had two kids, and she’s only 21.
Other couples seem to have slightly more equal marriages, though they’re still following the traditional gender roles. John and Abbie Duggar and Austin and Joy Forsyth share the same interests and appear to work more as a team, though their dynamics still consist of men making the money and women caring for the kids and household.
It seems like Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald have the most equal marriage
On one episode of Counting On, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar sent the married couples out on dates. And Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald seemed to have a conversation that reflected a more equal marriage; they discussed things such as family and finances, though most Duggar women are not involved in the finances. Counting On fans have discussed which couples appear to have the most equal marriages, and Seewald and Duggar are consistently at the top.
Seewald just confirmed that he definitely helps out around the house
Perhaps fans think of these two as the most equal because Seewald isn’t afraid to admit that he helps out around the house. It’s rare to see a Duggar husband doing dishes, but Seewald actually posted a photo to his Instagram account, making it clear that he’s more than willing to lend a helping hand.
“These two are always eager to be part of my dish crew,” the caption read. Many fans thought the post was adorable, while others cautioned Seewald that letting Ivy crawl on the door could result in the door breaking. “Such adorable ‘helpers,’” Anna Duggar commented. “Too cute!” Jinger Vuolo wrote.
Duggar and Seewald will likely have more kids
Right now, it looks like these two have their hands full with three children — they’re all under the age of five. But Duggar and Seewald will likely have more kids. It’s the Duggar way to have as many kids as one can, and though this couple seems to do things a bit differently from Duggar’s parents, they’ve said in the past that they want a large family.
The couple welcomed three kids in five years, so it wouldn’t surprise anyone if Duggar announced a fourth pregnancy by the end of this year.
