‘Counting On’ Fans Are Convinced 1 Duggar Is Trying to Escape the Family — And It’s Not Who You Think
The Duggar family is unlike most American families. Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s children were raised with very strict rules, which prevented them from living the way most modern-day children do. For the most part, though, the kids don’t seem to mind the lifestyle they were raised with; many of them have adopted a similar lifestyle for their own children. But fans think one Duggar wants nothing to do with the family — and it’s not who you might think.
The Duggars don’t live the way most Americans do
Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar raised their children much differently from the way most kids are raised. The family is Baptist and has a deep attachment to the church. They live to serve God, which means that Michelle and Jim Bob’s house rules are generally based on how they feel God wants them to live.
The women must wear knee-length skirts or dresses so as to prevent temptation; the kids can’t engage in any intimacy before marriage, and for the most part, nobody is allowed to move out until they have wed. The kids were homeschooled as well, and the women take care of the house and children while the men work.
Some Duggars have adopted different lifestyles than their parents
For the most part, the Duggar kids are raising their own children the same way they were raised. The kids’ children follow the same schooling and general rules as their parents did, but there are a few exceptions. Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo appear to be a bit more modern than her siblings, and it’s likely their daughter will be raised a bit differently. And though Jessa Duggar’s kids are being raised similarly to her lifestyle, she has broken the family rules in her own way quite a few times.
Fans think James Duggar wants to leave the family
So far, none of the Duggars have ever left the family, though fans have felt like Jinger and Jill Duggar were on their way out. But surprisingly, some are convinced that one other family member is trying to escape his parents’ grasp: James Duggar. “James was the one I thought would leave,” one user posted to Reddit. “He looks really unhappy in every photo.”
Others agreed, suggesting that the courtship rumors could be James’ way of marrying to get away from his parents. “Maybe he is courting (if he is) to get out of that insane house as soon as possible,” one user wrote. One user disagreed, though, saying that the Duggar men “have it made” in the Duggar lifestyle.
Michelle and Jim Bob likely would never allow someone to leave the family
Michelle and Jim Bob love their kids, but there have been rumors that they have a bad relationship with Jill and Derick Dillard. And this could be because Derick had a problem with Jim Bob running the house. Derick recently said that he and Jill now need permission to go to the Duggar home.
If this is true, it shows that Michelle and Jim Bob don’t tolerate their children going against the grain. Jim Bob clearly runs the house, and he would likely never allow one of his kids to stray too far from the family’s path without potentially blacklisting them.
