‘Counting On’ Fans Think Jinger Duggar Married Way Too Young
Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo have been married since 2016, but Duggar marriages aren’t always conventional. Now, the Counting On stars’ decision to give their fans marriage advice has some thinking Duggar married way too young.
Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo had a courtship rather than a dating relationship
Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar did not allow their children to date. The kids could only enter courtships, which was essentially a relationship with the intention of marrying. While courting, the Duggars learn whether or not they share the same values with another person and whether or not there is a connection. If so, the courtship turns into an engagement, which quickly becomes a marriage.
Duggar and Vuolo only courted for a few months before they realized they wanted to wed. Once Vuolo proposed, they quickly planned a wedding for that same year. The two married in November 2016.
Duggar told fans to ‘stay encouraged’ if they’re unmarried
Vuolo and Duggar recently launched a podcast called “Hope We Hold,” which explores their relationship with God and how they use religion to make everyday life decisions. On a recent podcast, Duggar and Vuolo talked about marriage, and she posted an Instagram photo promoting the topic discussion.
“Want to be married?” Duggar wrote. “[Jeremy] and I talk about how to stay encouraged while single… And I share a bit of my journey and what I’ve learned since being married.” Though Duggar’s words were meant to be encouraging, they didn’t resonate well with some fans.
Fans think Duggar married when she was too young
People shared their opinions on Duggar’s words in the comments section, and some felt Duggar had tied the knot at too young of an age to be able to give true marriage advice.
“Yikes, you were not single long, you married well. I don’t know anything and I’ve been married 20 years,” someone wrote. “You have no idea what it’s like being single… You went from your parents’ house to your husband’s house. And you were very young to get married as well,” another user wrote.
Still, others appreciated Duggar opening up about her own relationship and what it took to get her to where she is. “As someone who is to be content with being single, I needed to hear this today!” someone wrote.
Some have suspected Duggar and Vuolo don’t have a perfect marriage
In recent months, critics have begun to suspect that Duggar and Vuolo’s picture-perfect social media relationship could be hiding some cracks. The two have been married for nearly four years and just announced a pregnancy, and there is nothing to suggest they are unhappy. But some fans are convinced the couple’s gushy posts about one another fall in line with the idea that those who paint a perfect picture on social media are sometimes unhappy in real life.
