‘Counting On’ Fans Think Joy-Anna Duggar’s Husband, Austin Forsyth, Is Reckless With Their Son After Recent Photo
Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth recently welcomed a baby girl to the family. And the Counting On couple is more excited than ever to see how their son, Gideon, behaves as a big brother.
Recently, the happy family all got together for a photoshoot. But fans noted their concerns when a photo showed Austin throwing Gideon quite high into the air just for a cute photo. Here’s what everyone’s talking about.

Joy-Anna and Austin are overjoyed to share new photos of their daughter, Evelyn Mae. While the couple might still be filming with TLC, they’ve created their own YouTube channel to keep fans updated. So far, they’ve shown everything from the announcement of Joy-Anna’s pregnancy to doctor’s visits and, finally, to the hospital birth. Now, the couple’s sharing adorable photos to Instagram.
“I love my little family,” Austin captioned his series of photos he posted to Instagram on Oct. 10. The first photo in the series shows Joy-Anna holding Evelyn in her arms while Austin is seated behind Joy-Anna with Gideon by his side. And the second photo shows Austin throwing Gideon high into the air while Joy-Anna stands and watches to the side.
It looks like Joy-Anna chose different photos from the shoot to feature on her Instagram. “Pictures are something I cherish,” she captioned her post.
“They help me remember what life was like and they remind me to cherish every moment because time passes too quickly. I love love LOVE these photos and how they captured our personalities!”
Fans and critics are concerned with how high Austin tossed his son, Gideon
It’s clear Gideon is just fine from the photoshoot — but many are concerned by the second photo in Austin’s post, as it shows him launching Gideon up several feet above his head to potentially dangerous heights.
“Wow, that is high,” one fan commened. “Don’t do that. Please.”
“I adore you guys and your little family, but please, please be careful with that toss up,” another wrote. “Sadly, a family lost their daughter when that went wrong … and I worry probably too much now.”
“I’m usually not a Karen and not that kind of person but it actually is really unsafe and a lot of photographers refuse to take pics like that because of the danger,” yet another fan commented.
Many others stood up for Austin and Joy-Anna, though.
“I knew as soon as I saw that pic that the comments would start about it being ‘too high,'” a fan supported. “Y’all look great and your kids look so happy! Great family pictures!!!”
This is far from the first time Joy-Anna and Austin got slammed for their parenting
We imagine Joy-Anna and Austin have gotten used to fan backlash at this point. Because they fully put their lives on display for their fans and followers, they can’t please everyone. And this is far from the first time the couple’s been called out for their parenting choices related to their son, Gideon.
In the past, Joy-Anna and Austin have been reprimanded for allowing Gideon to drink coffee and get near power tools. While the couple’s commented back to concerned followers in the past, we’re not sure they’re going to entertain the negativity now, though Joy-Anna does have a sweet way of answering her followers when they’re upset. More recently, she thanked a follower for their “concern” after they thought she was going to drop baby Evelyn.
Overall, it seems like Gideon turned out just fine from the photoshoot — and the Forsyths aren’t going to change their ways just yet.
