‘Counting On’: Is Amy Duggar Subtly Shading Her Aunt and Uncle?
It is no secret, Jim Bob Duggar is feuding with Derick Dillard. Derick, who married Jill Duggar in 2014, has taken to Instagram to expose Jim Bob as money-hungry, and he appears to have a bone to pick with TLC, too. While Derick has waged outright war against his wife’s family, there is another Duggar who seems to be shading the matriarch and patriarch of the family in a much more subtle way. Amy Duggar has been posting some interesting stuff on social media lately, too.
Amy has thrown her support behind Derick and Jill
Amy took to Twitter last month to show her support for Derick’s decision to come forward with what has happened within his family. It seems that Amy was particularly thrilled to see Derick shedding light on the way TLC treats the Duggar kids. She’s been pretty careful to avoid saying anything derogatory about Michelle and Jim Bob personally, though.
Speaking to the host of YouTube’s Without a Crystal Ball, Amy claims she, her mother, her son, and her husband are no longer under contract with TLC and that they will not be working with the production company anytime in the future. She also noted that Jill and Derick have her full support, but she stopped short of commenting on the rest of the Duggar family.
With that being said, Amy seems to be attempting to distance herself from the clan in recent months. In fact, she made it a point to tell a fan she knew absolutely nothing about any potential raid on the Duggar family compound, and if something was going on, they wouldn’t tell her. As most people know, the Duggar family was paid a visit by the Department of Homeland Security in 2019. Nothing has come of the investigation just yet.
Amy’s Twitter posts have gotten pretty interesting
Amy might not want to comment directly on the Duggar family’s recent struggles, but that doesn’t mean she’s above throwing shade towards the famous family in a subtle way. In one Twitter post, Amy shared a gif that suggests God does not talk down to you or grade you. Followers of the family found the tweet interesting.
After all, the Duggar family’s entire media brand has been based on the idea that they are being graded on how closely they follow conservative values. The obsession with modest dress, the decision to only enter courtships instead of casually dating, and the choice to focus their entire lives around their faith all hint at a grading system. While the Duggars have never come out and suggested they are scoring virtue points for their decisions, critics seem to think that’s the way they operate.
Has Amy’s decision to support Jill angered Jim Bob and Michelle?
Jim Bob and Michelle are keeping a low profile these days. They have not commented on Derick’s statements, and mostly seem to want to ignore the familial rift that is evident to the entire social media world. How they feel about Amy, is unknown as well, and it’s unlikely anyone will be hearing them chime in anytime soon.
What is known is that Jim Bob and Michelle have not publicly acknowledged Jill since 2017. They did visit with Amy after the birth of her son, Daxton Ryan King, but they haven’t mentioned her since. If you’re hoping to see a battle of wits between Amy and her famous aunt and uncle in a public arena, you’ll probably be waiting a long time, but Amy seems happy to show her support of Jill publicly, and that’s a great thing to see.
