‘Counting On’: Jessa Duggar Just Broke The Biggest Rule Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar Had For Their Kids
Jessa Duggar got married in 2014 and dutifully followed her family’s famous rules. She didn’t kiss before her wedding date, announced a pregnancy shortly after marriage, and has dedicated her time to having children and homemaking. Jessa appears to be the Duggar adhering most closely to Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s lifestyle. That doesn’t mean she isn’t breaking any rules, though. Jessa just revealed that she is flouncing one of Jim Bob and Michelle’s biggest rules for her own kids.
Jill Duggar turned out to be the family member with a rebellious streak, while Jessa has mostly followed the rules
Jessa might be breaking some family rules now, but it’s taken her years to do it. Before her marriage to Ben Seewald, fans had assumed she, along with her sister and best friends, Jinger Vuolo, would be the family rebels. Fans noted their spirited personalities and expressive faces suggested they were over their parents’ archaic guidelines.
Jill Dillard, who was syrupy sweet for most of her time on Counting On, was pegged as the Duggar lady who would follow most closely in her parents’ footsteps. The opposite happened. Not only is Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, using birth control, but they drink alcohol and have thrown out the Duggar family dress code. Derick’s feud with Jim Bob appears to have fueled much of the change.
Jessa might have found a touch of rebellion, too
While Jessa has closely adhered to the lifestyle she was raised in; family followers notice touches of rebellion as of late. First, she was spotted wearing pants repeatedly. Now, Jessa’s recent YouTube video revealed that she is currently breaking one of her parents’ most stringent rules. She is letting opposite gender children share a bedroom.
In a recent YouTube video, Jessa rearranged her children’s bedroom. In the process, she built a loft bed to go over the existing queen-sized bed in the room. Also in the bedroom is a toddler bed. Jessa’s eldest child, Spurgeon Seewald, explained that the toddler bed belonged to Ivy Seewald, the queen-sized bed was where his younger brother, Henry Seewald, sleeps. Finally, he noted that the loft bed belonged to him. Clearly, the three children, aged 5, 3, and 20 months, share the same room. The decision makes prefect sense, but Jim Bob and Michelle were vehemently against their sons and daughters spending time alone together.
Will Jess and Ben be moving to a bigger house?
Jessa and Ben have outgrown their existing house. With three kids, two adults, and large extended families, it doesn’t make much sense for them to remain in the 2-bedroom starter home for much longer. So, why haven’t they moved yet? Jessa insisted it has been her choice thus far. In a YouTube video, she claimed to be sentimental about the house.
Fans aren’t buying the story, though. Jessa’s husband only recently got a job, and even then, they likely rely heavily on Jim Bob to make the numbers work. If they were to procure a bigger home, Jim Bob would probably need to be the one to give it to them. They have another option, though. They could always choose to build on the Duggar family’s acreage. Jim Bob would need to OK that too, though.
