‘Counting On’: Joy Duggar and Austin Forsyth Have a Bigger House-Flipping Business Than We Realized
Joy Duggar and Austin Forsyth are one of the only Duggar couples who weren’t set up in their jobs by Duggar’s father, Jim Bob. The two flip homes for a living, and while Forsyth does most of the work, Duggar still gets involved wherever she can. And it turns out their business is bigger than we realized.
Joy Duggar and Austin Forsyth often take us inside their renovation homes
Duggar and Forsyth seem to bond over their love for getting their hands dirty. Duggar was always more of a tomboy than her sisters growing up, and fans are glad that she found someone who she can do construction projects with. (When Duggar was a teenager, she detailed cars for fun, so she’s always loved hands-on work.)
Duggar and Forsyth tend to take fans inside the homes they’re renovating. Now that Forsyth has his own Instagram, he focuses it mostly on his houses. And it turns out they do more than just flips.
They construct homes from new — not only flips
For a while, we thought that Duggar and Forsyth remodeled old homes and sold them for a profit. And while that is part of their job, the two also build homes from scratch. Forsyth has taken photos and videos of the homes, including sharing the couple’s newest project in his recent Instagram story.
Forsyth also took fans through another one of the couple’s projects, which was a home that included vaulted ceilings, a high-end kitchen, and a spacious master bath. And while homes in Arkansas don’t typically sell for as much as other parts of the country, the two are likely making a pretty penny on their projects.
The couple flips more homes in a year than we thought
It turns out Duggar and Forsyth’s house flipping business might actually be larger than we thought. Forsyth recently completed a home, which he took a photo in front of, but now, he’s already on to the next one. And it’s only been about six months since the couple completed their own home renovation.
This means that Duggar and Forsyth have worked on three projects in the past six months, which, on average, would mean they remodel at least six homes per year. That’s a lot for two people, and they’re still so young, that we can’t help but think their business will only grow over the next decade. It’s unclear how much they profit, but it seems like they definitely don’t rely on the show or Duggar’s father for money.
Forsyth was recently sued for one of his remodels
Though the two appear to have a successful business, it doesn’t come without its own set of problems. Last year, Forsyth was named in a lawsuit for allegedly lying about permits he received to install a septic tank. The couple who filed the suit alleged Forsyth installed the wrong type of septic tank for the property and allegedly failed to receive the proper permit, though Forsyth said he received all the necessary permits for the property.
It’s unclear when or if the lawsuit was settled, but there are certainly a lot of rules to follow when it comes to remodeling homes. Though mistakes like that shouldn’t happen, it’s also a learning experience for the two.
