‘Counting On’: Justin Duggar’s New Girlfriend Claire Spivey Gushes Over Him in Video
Justin Duggar is courting! On the Sept. 22 episode of Counting On, the 17-year-old revealed he was in a relationship with 19-year-old Claire Spivey.
The Spivey and Duggar families have known each other for years, but Justin and Claire’s romance didn’t blossom until spring 2019. Both come from large families — Claire is the eldest of six kids — and enjoy reading the Bible and doing outdoor activities together.
Claire Spivey says Justin Duggar ‘always looks for the best in people’
Claire and Justin opened up about their relationship in a video posted to the TLC website. In the clip, she shares what she loves about her boyfriend.
“Something I really admire in Justin is how serious-minded he is, but his ability to have fun and to just see the bright side of things no matter what,” the Texas native says. “He always looks for the best in people and I want to be more like him every day.”
“I’m really looking forward to the memories to come,” she adds.
Justin says Claire came along ‘right when I needed her’
Justin, who is the 14th of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s 19 children, says that Claire came into his life at exactly the right time.
“God brought Claire into my life and I wasn’t really expecting it, but he brought her along right when I needed her” he says. “And ever since then, I knew she was the one.”
While Claire and Justin are not yet engaged, an announcement is likely coming soon. The Duggar family typically doesn’t announce courtships (their version of dating) unless they expect it to lead to a wedding. In the video, Justin hints that fans will see more of his and Claire’s relationship on future episodes of Counting On.
Justin’s ‘Counting On’ family is thrilled with his big news
After the news of Justin’s courtship became public, members of his family were quick to share how excited they were on social media.
“When Justin couldn’t stop talking about what a great girl Claire was, we knew it was only a matter of time before he would make it official!” his parents wrote on the family’s official Instagram.
“We are excited for them as they follow the Lord and find out what He has in store for their lives during this courtship! We have loved getting to know Claire and her family better over the last year, and we think the world of them!” they added.
“So happy for y’all!” Justin’s big sister Jessa Duggar commented on the post.
“Justin and Claire, it’s been sweet to watch your friendship grow over the past year! The two of you bring out the best in each other — super excited for you both!” his sister-in-law Anna Duggar wrote on her Instagram.
