‘Counting On’: Kendra Duggar and Her Mother Are Pregnant At the Same Time – Again
Joseph and Kendra Duggar didn’t waste any time starting a family. The Counting On couple tied the knot back in 2017, and they welcomed their first child nine months later. In each family, having many children is common, so it didn’t come as a total surprise when Kendra and her mother, Christina Caldwell, became pregnant at the same time. Now, Kendra’s mother has surprised fans by announcing another pregnancy around the same time as her daughter.
The Duggar and Caldwell families believe in having as many kids as God wants
When Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar were first married, they began using birth control because they weren’t ready to start a family. While on the pill, Michelle became pregnant, and she lost the baby to a miscarriage. From there, she and Jim Bob felt that God was telling them not to prevent themselves from having kids, and they decided to leave their number of children up to God.
Today, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have 19 children, and they only allow their kids to marry those with the same beliefs and values. Joe married Kendra Duggar, whose parents, Christina and Paul Caldwell, share the same beliefs as Michelle and Jim Bob. Though they don’t have as many kids as the Duggars, Christina is currently pregnant with her ninth child.

Joe and Kendra announced baby no. 3 over the summer, and fans were surprised that she became pregnant so soon after having her second child. The couple welcomed their son, Garrett, in June 2018, and their daughter, Addison, in November 2019. But, to add to the surprise, Kendra’s mother and father recently announced on Instagram that they’re expecting another baby, too.
When Kendra became pregnant with her first child, her mother was already expecting her own little boy at the time. The two women seemed to enjoy sharing in the pregnancy process (Kendra’s mother is only 18 years older than her). Apparently, they enjoyed it so much that they want to go through it together a second time. Christina and Paul Caldwell are expecting baby no. 9 in May 2021, three months after Kendra’s baby is due.

Joe and Kendra have not slowed down in terms of expanding their family. The two wed when Kendra was only 18, and they announced her third pregnancy about a week after turning 22, which means that she became pregnant with baby no. 3 while still 21. Fans have expressed concern for Kendra over having so many children at such a young age.
One user commented on the couple’s Instagram announcement asking Kendra to “slow down” after baby no. 3 arrives. Another user asked the two to give themselves “a little break” in between kids rather than having “one after another.” It’s unclear if Joe and Kendra plan to take a break after baby no. 3, but if Kendra is anything like her mom or mother-in-law, she and Joe will likely be welcoming plenty more kids through the years.
