‘Counting On’ Viewers Are Concerned For the Safety of the Duggar Daughters

The Duggar family managed for years to hide a major scandal that occurred among the siblings back in the early 2000s. And since then, some viewers of the show have never looked at them the same. Now, beyond that incident, some say they’re still concerned for the safety of the Duggar daughters — and maybe even the sons.

The Duggar daughters never said whether they received help after Josh Duggar’s alleged sexual abuse

Back in the early 2000s, Josh Duggar admitted to inappropriately touching some of his sisters and the family babysitter. His parents reported him to the police, but no charges were ever filed. Josh ended up admitting to the abuse on multiple occasions, and his parents knew they needed to seek help for their son after the third time. “We pulled Josh out of the home,” Jim Bob Duggar revealed to Megyn Kelly in 2015.

Still, the interview hardly touched on the lives of the Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s daughters, who were arguably the most affected by Josh’s actions — and fans noticed. “Is it just me, or did they not seem very concerned for their daughters’ safety?” one user wrote in the comments section of the video. “They want to be an advocate for protecting juvenile records? How about be an advocate for your daughters — victims of sexual abuse!” another person wrote.

Caleb Williams reportedly once lived with the Duggars

Jim Bob and Michelle were interviewed back in 2015, but still, not everyone is convinced the Duggar daughters are safe. Critics of the show took to Reddit to discuss other situations that might have been unsafe for the younger girls — aside from Josh’s actions.

Users expressed concern over Caleb Williams, who was reportedly living at the Duggar house for some time. Between 2015 and 2016, Caleb allegedly committed two Class 2 felonies of sexual abuse toward minors. According to InTouch Weekly, Williams allegedly impregnated one of the girls. And critics are now convinced that Michelle and Jim Bob do not provide a safe space for their daughters.

Viewers expressed concern over the Duggars daughters’ safety in their own home

Critics of the show weren’t happy that Caleb supposedly spent time living with the family. “Caleb and Josh are not the only ones to have lived with the Duggars, at any given time they had people they barely knew live with them. Very [irresponsible] for someone that has a lot of children and underage children,” the original poster wrote.

“That makes me worry about the safety of the lost girls. I think it’s Jenni who seems very closed off. I hope nothing happened to her,” someone else wrote.

“I’m also concerned about the lost boys that shared a room with these two,” another user wrote, referring to Caleb and his brother who lived with the family.

“Didn’t realize other people lived with them like that — which always weirds me out when people have children … You just don’t always know the intentions of others,” someone else added.

It’s important to note that there is nothing more to suggest the Duggar kids were in any additional danger after Josh’s actions; it’s only viewer speculation.
