‘Counting On’ Viewers Are Convinced Jessa Duggar is Doing Damage Control After Critics Call Her Out For Mistreating Her Son
Jessa Duggar shares three children with her husband, Ben Seewald, and to most fans, she gives them all plenty of air time on social media. Still, Jessa recently raised eyebrows when she posted a video that appeared to show her older son, Spurgeon, stepping on his younger brother’s toys.
Critics called Jessa out for the move, and now, Jessa’s recent photo of Henry and her sister, Jana Duggar, has some thinking she’s doing damage control.
Jessa Duggar dotes on her three kids
When Jessa and Ben Seewald tied the knot, they didn’t wait long to start a family. Jessa became pregnant with the couple’s first child about three months after they wed, and their son, Spurgeon, was born in November 2015. 15 months later, Jessa and Ben welcomed their second child, Henry, and 15 months after that, Ivy Jane was born.
Jessa and Ben have since slowed down on having children; 15 months came and went, and no new baby arrived. But Jessa seems to have her hands full dealing with three little ones. She loves posting photos of her kids to social media, such as Spurgeon learning to read, Henry being sweet to Ivy, and Ivy singing “Happy Birthday” at just one year old.
Critics called Jessa out on not protecting her younger son
Jessa Duggar recently posted a photo of her younger son, Henry, reading alongside her older sister, Jana. Though fans thought the image was sweet, some Duggar critics thought Jessa was doing damage control after a recent video suggested Henry wasn’t being treated properly.
In early October, Jessa posted a YouTube video of Spurgeon’s new hair, but in one scene, it seemed Duggar allowed him to intentionally ruin what Henry was building. The scene has now been deleted, but critics called Jessa out on the poor treatment of her younger son. “Honestly, at that age, [Spurgeon] should have had some kind of consequence,” one user wrote on Reddit about the original video. “A lot of people … Were calling her out about her reaction to Spurgeon’s behavior,” another person wrote, in response to Jessa cropping the scene out.
Critics now think Jessa is doing damage control to show Henry some attention
Jessa recently posted a photo of her older sister, Jana Duggar, reading to Henry at Jessa’s home. And while critics were glad to see Henry getting some attention, they couldn’t help but think it had something to do with the criticism Jessa received from the video.
“She’s actually posting a picture of Henry, without [Spurgeon] being the center of attention,” one user wrote on Reddit. “At least someone is paying the slightest bit of attention to poor Henry,” another person commented. “Imagine you’re henry and the first person that pays attention to you in months is… Jana,” another user added.
Though Jessa did crop the video of Spurgeon stepping on Henry’s creation, there is nothing more to suggest that she favors one of her kids over any others; it’s only fan speculation.
