Courtney Love adored Harry Brant as though he was her own child
Clearly distraught, Love shared her adoration for Brant on Instagram. “My heart is broke,” she wrote. “In all truth I say, Harry, my love, you were too good for this world. The only child, other than my Frances Bean, I’ve ever loved so much.”
Love reflected on how Brant reminded her of her late husband. “I know that my Kurt, another boy so much like you, so empathic, too beautiful to be here long, who saw the beauty in even the ugliest, will be there for you,” she continued.
She envisioned Cobain and Brant meeting in heaven and having lunch. “I’m pretty sure he’ll invite you to sit with him at lunch on eagle peak,” she mused. “And I’m pretty sure you’ll show him how to order in French off the menu.”
Love also believes Brant is at peace. “The seed of Buddhism is planted in you,” she wrote directly to Brant. “I know you are at peace, greeted by the eternity of your next trip here, a boddhisatva of this earth. Nam myoho renge kyo.”
‘The more true you are to yourself and the more individual you are …’
Love ended her remarks, sharing that she and those who knew Brant were grieving. “My heart goes out to all of us, in his chosen family whose hearts are shattered today,” she wrote. “And all of his siblings, dad .. and sweet lily of the valley, his beloved mother, Stephanie.”
“Harry was not just our son,” the family shared in the statement, The New York Times reports. “He was also a wonderful brother, loving grandson, favorite uncle and a caring friend.”
Brant told W Magazine in 2016 he was searching for his true authentic self. “The gender lines are starting to blur again, which is really, really great. People are starting to be more celebrated for their creativity. I really think that once you leave high school, you realize that being normal is something that people want to shy away from,” he said. “And the more true you are to yourself and the more individual you are, the more people are inherently attracted to you.”
