Football runs in Jonathan “Jake” Ferguson’s family. Both his father and brother played the sport in college and his grandfather, Barry Alvarez, is a former head coach of the University of Wisconsin and also served as athletic director for the school.
Ferguson attended the university where his grandfather had coached and as a senior broke Lee Evans’ Badgers record for consecutive games with a reception. The tight end was drafted in the fourth round by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2022 NFL Draft and made his first Pro Bowl in 2023.

Haley was born on Jan. 13, 2001, in South Bend, Indiana, to parents Katie and Tom. She has two sisters, one who is her fraternal twin. The family relocated to Arizona and after attending Gilbert High School, Haley enrolled in Fresno State before transferring to the University of Miami where she and her twin, Hanna, play basketball for the Hurricanes.
The Cavinger twins have a large social media following with their shared account on TikTok.
During their basketball careers, the two have become leading figures in college sports endorsements signing name, image and likeness (NIL) deals with several companies including Boost Mobile and WWE.
Hanna and I benefited tremendously from social media. Name, image, and likeness helped us in that way. But also if you’re a big-time football player at a big-time school you can benefit from name, image, likeness, from that as well. So I think it just depends on the player and what school you’re at,” Haley said during an appearance on The Big Money Show.
How long Jake Ferguson and Haley Cavinder have been together
Haley and Ferguson met through social media and started dating in 2023.
Since then, Haley’s been a fixture at her beau’s games and has shown off her team spirit in head-to-toe Cowboys gear.
In 2024, the couple took their relationship to the next level as Ferguson got a tattoo of his girlfriend’s initials “H.C.” inked on his ring finger.

Haley previously opened up about the downside of dating an NFL player and how it affected her.
“I’m a confident girl, but when people are saying stuff about you — if you have a boyfriend and someone is talking about you online with your boyfriend, like, coming at your features — I’m like, ‘This is new and obviously Jake is a great guy, but you don’t want to be called ugly on the internet 24/7, and your boyfriend sees it,” she said during a recent Q&A on the Cavinder twins’ YouTube channel. “That’s not going to make anyone feel cool.”
“So I had a mental breakdown, but that was a while ago. Honestly, I’m very confident and comfortable sharing my relationship because Jake was very loud about it.”
