‘Criminal Minds’ Season 15: Fans Want to Know Why Max Wasn’t at the Final Dinner Party
Criminal Minds finally concluded after 15 amazing seasons. However, fans are still wondering where Max (Rachael Leigh Cook) was at the final dinner party for the series. Read on to learn what fans are saying and what Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays Dr. Spencer Reid, has to say about the situation.
The BAU team has a dinner party and almost everyone is there
Rossi (Joe Mantegna) hosts a dinner party as usual for the members of the BAU. This time the party is for a very special occasion. It’s in honor of Penelope Garcia’s (Kirsten Vangsness) departure from the BAU since she’s going to work for a nonprofit.
Reid is surprisingly alone at the party and Max is nowhere to be found. Fans will remember that Max is Reid’s new love interest and they seem to be getting along well together. It was a strange choice not to have Max there with Reid at the end of things.
What does Matthew Gray Gubler think of Max being absent from the party?
TVLine asked Gubler about where Max was during the party and he had this to say: “I know, dude. I have no idea. I’d like to know as well!”
Gubler insists that he thinks Max is still around. “No, I think she’s still around,” Gubler said. “But I don’t know. I don’t know, and I hope that they resolve that someday. Because I’d like to know.”
A source told TVLine that the status of Reid and Max’s relationship is, “intentionally left open to viewer interpretation.”
Fans seriously want to know what happened with Max
Fans were understandably confused with how things ended with Reid and Max. Why wasn’t she invited to the dinner party with Reid? She should have been there and her presence was missed.
“They couldn’t have let Max come to the party?” a Reddit user asked.
Another user brought up a point about “random” people at the party but Max was MIA. “They can have all these random people at the party, but not Max, right,” the Reddit user said.
A fan wanted to know how the show could just brush over the whole thing like that. “How can Max and the whole Max/Reid thing just disappear?” someone else asked.
“I’m getting really annoyed about this. Why bother to write her into the series and then forget about her?” another Reddit user inquired.
One user suggested that the show could have at least had Max send Reid a text or something showing that their relationship would continue on. “If only Spence had looked at his cell phone to see a text message from Max,” the user suggested.
Fans are understandably upset that Max wasn’t at the final dinner party. But it’s even worse that nothing was mentioned about Reid and Max again before the series concluded. Viewers were really hoping that Reid would find true love, but instead we’ll never really know now. But it’s a nice thought to imagine that they continued on with their relationship.
