‘Criminal Minds’: Why Fans Should No Longer Worry About Dr. Spencer Reid’s Lack of a Personal Life
Viewers of Criminal Minds can’t seem to get enough especially when it comes to a certain character. Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) has a huge fan following and it’s clear to see why. The lovable and intelligent Reid hasn’t had the best luck when it comes to a personal life, but have no fear. Things are looking up for him. Read on to learn why fans can’t help but be concerned about Dr. Spencer Reid’s happiness and why things are about to change for the better. There are spoilers ahead for the final season of Criminal Minds.
Fans really love Dr. Spencer Reid
Fans absolutely love Reid on the hit CBS series. He’s been a part of the BAU since the very beginning and it’s hard not to want the best for him. He’s been through so much and viewers just want him to find happiness at this point.
Fans have definitely worried over the years as to whether Reid will ever have any semblance of a personal life. “I’m worried about Spencer Reid’s personal life or lack thereof,” a Reddit user wrote. “He is very unlucky in his personal affairs, granted with his type of personality it is pretty predictable.”
“I wish the writers gave him more of a social life or a new girlfriend,” another Reddit user said. “Spencer’s character has potential to be really great, but the writers aren’t doing anything with it and it irritates me.”
Season 15 of ‘Criminal Minds’ will be Dr. Spencer Reid’s time to shine
If you’re caught up with Criminal Minds, then you know that Reid is dealing with some news that Jennifer “JJ” Jareau (A.J. Cook) sprang on him in the season 14 finale. The best friends definitely have some unfinished business to take care of after JJ revealed a more than startling confession.
“Spence, um, I’ve always loved you. And I was just too scared to say it before. And now things are just really too complicated to say now,” JJ said. “I’m sorry, but you should know.”
The situation isn’t exactly ideal for fans who want Reid to find a girlfriend without breaking up a happy home. Considering JJ is married to Will (Josh Stewart), the situation is probably going to fizzle out, but that’s not the only potential love match Reid will have in the final season.
Reid will have another chance at love with Max, who will be played by Rachael Leigh Cook. She will appear in at least two of the final 10 episodes, so things could get serious for Reid if all goes well.
Fans are hoping Reid will find happiness and love
After everything Reid has suffered over the years, it’s about time viewers get to see him find some actual happiness. It would be nice to see him find love along the way too.
“I don’t think they’re planning anything but a happy ending for Reid at this point,” a Reddit user wrote.
“Please don’t kill this one off,” someone else contemplated.
Criminal Minds premieres its final season on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at 9 p.m. E.S.T. Hopefully, fans will see Dr. Spencer Reid with an actual personal life for once.
