Cryptic Video Resurfaces of Liam Payne’s Ex Maya Henry Recounting His Words: ‘I’m Not Gonna Be Around Much Longer’
Liam Payne, a British singer and former member of One Direction — the group that defined boy band music in the early 2010s–has died after falling from his third-floor balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. But even just hours after his death, scary details were starting to unfold on social media.
And a recent interview resurfaced of Payne’s ex, Maya Henry, recounting her difficult experiences of abuse with him — including words he used referring to his own death.
Liam Payne’s ex Maya Henry recalls cryptic words he said to her
Payne spent about seven years in One Direction before developing his solo career. He and Henry were previously engaged, but they broke things off back in 2021. The two had first met back in 2018, though their relationship wasn’t made public until fall 2019. They had a bit of an up-and-down relationship while they were together. Payne proposed to Henry, a model from Texas, in 2020, but the two ultimately called off their engagement in 2021. They tried to reconcile once, but they broke up again in 2022 and did not get back together.
But Henry and Payne were having serious problems, and she had recently gone public with abuse allegations. Henry also sent Payne a cease-and-desist letter after he allegedly was incessantly contacting her. And in an Oct. 6 interview, Henry recounted cryptic words Payne said to her shortly before his death.
“He would always play with death,” Henry said in her conversation with The Internet Is Dead, which recently resurfaced on X. She said Payne would say things to her like, “I’m gonna die,” and “I’m not doing well.”
Henry also recalled that when she announced her upcoming book back in February, Payne reached out to her mother. “He would text my mom, ‘I’m not doing well. Have Maya contact me,’” Henry said. “When I announced my book, he did the same thing. He called my mom [and said], ‘I think I’m not gonna be around much longer.’”
Maya Henry says she tried to get Liam Payne help
Henry said that she had tried several times to help Payne seek help for his mental health but that he wouldn’t take it. “I was like, ‘If you want to go back to rehab, I’ll help you,’” she said. She emphasized that she did not want to be get back together with him but that he’s “still somebody’s child; he’s somebody’s brother.”
The interview is getting much more traction now because it appears that Henry, in some ways, was predicting Payne’s death. Payne’s death has been met with an outpouring of grief from One Direction fans, but social media users have also sent their thoughts to Henry for what she might be going through — especially considering her words only a few weeks ago.
