CSI: Vegas opens with an older man cooking alone in his home with his parrot behind him. He hears someone and turns around, but we realize it’s Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle). He has mostly lost his eyesight. A man sneaks upon him, and Brass fights off the younger man who has a knife. Brass shoots him and asks, “what do you want from me?” As the man bleeds out, he answers, “He didn’t tell me.”

Maxine Roby (Paula Newsome) appears at the crime scene as level 2 CSI Allie Rajan (Mandeep Dhillon) gathers evidence. Both of them later question Brass. He realizes this is the work of a kidnapper named Lucky.

Brass talks to Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox). He tells her he has Fuchs’ Corneal Dystrophy disease and can see shapes. Sara has been six hours away in San Diego. Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) is busy with a grandchild in Dublin. Sara’s husband, Gil Grissom (William Petersen), is getting jellyfish samples in the Panama Basin and can’t fly back. Brass asks her to help with the case.

Maxine and Sara meet. It turns out Maxine has her job because Sara passed on it. She’s open to Sara helping because they’re understaffed. They’re sent someone’s head with a note saying, “Brass is just the beginning.” Allie tells Sara and Maxine that the decapitated body belongs to Kelsey Webb, who was taken by Lucky in 1996. There is something on her cheek.

Sara goes to see Dr. Hugo Ramirez (Mel Rodriguez), a coroner. He’s working on the brain of Brass’ attacker. It was very unhealthy, so he probably was in a lot of fights. His stomach was also full of pomegranate.

Chris catches Allie up on who Brass and Sara are. She seems shocked that Sara left the job for a man. Later, a police officer is working on a strip. A man comes up behind her and kidnaps her.

Bill Dwyer was the real criminal

Chris and Sara find a place that is selling pomegranates. They then find a deserted building nearby. Chris found brewer’s yeast that matched what was on Kelsey Webb’s cheek.

Allie, Sara, and Dr. Ramirez work on evidence together. From the evidence, Sara doesn’t think Lucky did it because he died years ago.

Folsom finds a bill from the casino and brings it back to Maxine. Maxine believes their suspect is a white, blue-eyed male from what she gathered on the bill, and all signs point to Bill Dwyer as the real kidnapper.

Sara later gets out of her car, talking on the phone while on the strip. Bill is there, and he has his hand in his pocket. He tells her that he isn’t going to hurt her. But he’s going to teach them all a lesson for how they planted evidence and put him away. He walks away down the strip, but Sara follows him.

He escapes in a car, but Sara gets the license plate. ICE later finds Bill’s car parked in front of a house. It’s empty, and CSI takes over the scene. They find a typewriter that was used to send that ominous note. Officers then find Bill under the house with the officer.

Josh Folsom solves a family crime on ‘CSI: Vegas’

There is another crime that’s solved in this episode. Someone grabs a bag out of a burning building then leaves in a truck at the beginning of the episode. That building then explodes.

Josh Folsom works the crime scene of the building. It used to be a pawn shop, and there’s the body of someone who was shot and a bunch of melted guns. Two women walk in, and one of them thinks it’s a man named Danny Yates. They are his sisters, and he’s been missing. Folsom later reveals that he thinks the killer walked up to the counter and shot Danny.

Allie also visits Folson and reveals her boyfriend asked her to move in together. Folsom seems surprised by this. Maybe he’s a little jealous? She invites him to go out and celebrate, but he’s too busy working.

Folsom goes to Danny’s family to ask about their guns to follow up on the melted-down guns that were burned in that building. They think Danny tried to melt the guns to make art. But Folsom notices a picture of Danny in camo holding crossbows with other men.

Chris and Folsom then try to recreate the crime scene. Folsom has a theory that the killer actually used an arrow to kill instead of a gun. Folsom confronts Danny’s sister, Becky, and says she shot him after he found out she was selling illegal guns. She immediately broke down, and she was arrested.

Is David Hodges dirty or being set up?

It looks like Bill is leading to a much bigger case. A note was found at Bill’s home, and the officers took him in for questioning. Maxine is there and wants to find out who put Bill up to attacking Brass. Bill refuses to answer.

The note also talks about a storage facility in Spring Valley, so Maxine and Sara go there. David Hodges rents it, and they find a lot of lab equipment and their case files. Sara believes it’s a setup on Hodges, but Maxine says it’s legitimate evidence from their old cases. Sara still thinks this was planted.

People from those cases are starting to sue because of the evidence that is found in the lab. Soon Hodges will be charged unless Sara does something. Brass asks Sara what are they going to do now? Gil is then revealed to be sitting with them. He answers what they always do, follow the evidence.

It looks like there is more to cover with this case. Fans will have to watch CSI: Vegas on CBS to see what happens next.
