Cynthia Erivo Wows With ‘Wicked’-ly Glam Nails at Golden Globes — Get the Look
Cynthia Erivo made a dramatic statement with her bejeweled nails at Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony. The Wicked star – who was nominated for her role as Elphaba in the hit musical – donned a striking Louis Vuitton gown for the awards season kickoff event. She added an extra dose of glam with her elaborate manicure courtesy of nail artist Mycah Dior.
Cynthia Erivo’s manicurist explains how to get her look
Dior used multiple shades of OPI nail polish for Erivo’s impressive claws, including Kyoto Pearl, Rated Pea-G, Fiyero’s My Mani (from the Wicked collection), Miami Beet, and Princesses Rule! She also shared tips on how to recreate the rose quartz marble design.
To get the look, start by applying two coats of Reoccurin’ Gleam, a new shade for spring 2025. Next, apply a matte topcoat. Then disperse your favorite white ink pigment across the nail, creating diagonal and imperfect lines. Use 100% acetone to start dispersing the ink with a thick nail art brush or 3D brush, creating the gemstone veins and repeating until satisfied. Finally, apply hints of Princesses Rule! and Miami Beet to different parts of the nail and add Alpine Snow with a thin liner brush, outlining some veins for deeper dimension and depth.
The ‘Wicked’ star’s signature nails took 5 hours to complete
Getting Erivo’s signature nail look takes time, the actor admitted.
“This took five hours,” she told E!’s Zuri Hall in a red carpet interview ahead of the ceremony. “I did it this morning. I didn’t do it this morning, but my wonderful manicurist did it today.”
The Tony-winner said she uses that down time to catch up on emails and texts.
“I’ll watch some TV,” she added. “It’s delightful … I do enjoy myself.”
Erivo also shed some light on her recent red carpet looks, which pay homage to her Wicked character in subtle ways.
“Green is Elphaba’s skin color, but what she wears a lot is black, so I’ve been trying to mess around with the shapes and the structure of different kinds of black dresses,” she explained. “We’ve been playing around with it and bringing green in occasionally.”
She also opened up about her close relationship with her Wicked co-star Ariana Grande, who plays Glinda.
“There’s stuff that people don’t see when we’re off cameras and away from cameras. It’s our conversations that we have without anyone listening, and how we are together after the cameras shut down,” she said. “That’s the thing that deepens who we are as friends and sisters. We’re just like, silly sometimes, and we have our ways of making sure we can communicate without words … We’ve just spent that much time together and have been willing to learn each other that way and it’s just been lovely.”
