An Old Dakota Johnson Interview Has Her Trending; Here’s What Fans Are Saying
Dakota Johnson is charismatic, funny, and seems like a pretty nice person. She doesn’t really get into problematic situations and her hilarious Ellen appearance solidified her as the best meme of 2019 that keeps on giving. Now fans have rediscovered an interview where Johnson talked about her sexuality. And they love it.
Dakota Johnson discussed her sexuality in a 2017 interview
Johnson, like most celebrities, isn’t just going to come out and say who she’s dating. She’s talked about her previous relationships in the past, but even in her current relationship, she’s not super forthcoming with details. However, back in 2017, she talked to Vogue in-depth about her life and her projects like Fifty Shades of Grey. She also talked about her sexuality.
“I’ve been in a phase of my life where I’m fascinated by young women coming to terms with their sexuality,” she told Vogue on Jan. 13, 2017. “I guess, by proxy, I have been experiencing that in my own life, and it’s very interesting to me.”
She said this in response to talking about the roles she’s taken, which include Anastasia Steele, but also other movies like The Social Network and A Bigger Splash. But then they got into her recent breakup (at the time) and she talks about her intense feelings when she’s in a relationship.
“Sh*t happens,” she said. “I think I’m a little bit heartbroken all the time, even when I’m in a happy relationship. I don’t do casual very well, and my feelings, even the good ones, get so intense that they hurt.”
This brings us to her direct quote that has fans freaking out. In addition to already saying she’s exploring her sexuality, Johnson cheekily talks about making this interview “really juicy.”
“Can we say that I’m taking this time to explore my bisexuality?” she asked. “Or that I have given myself to the Lord following the release of my sexually explicit trifecta of films?”
A lot of fans were loving that Johnson was trending
Now, she’s being a little bold and playful when she said this, it seems. It’s obviously unclear if she’s saying anything about her sexuality other than exploring it. No one should assume anyone’s sexuality or label but fans are loving this trending topic regardless.
Whenever a fan-favorite celebrity starts trending, their admirers bring out the best things about them. From Johnson’s cozy, chic (and gorgeous) home to her great work in underrated films like The Peanut Butter Falcon, her fans were enjoying it.

Essentially, it was a pretty fun day on Twitter on July 15 for her fans. Some shared fun quotes from the actor on Twitter and Marie Claire dropped their “Pop Quiz” interview video with her as well. Again: Her fans were thriving.
Dakota is currently dating Chris Martin
Johnson was linked to actor Jordan Masterson in 2013. And according to E! News, she went on to date Matthew Hitt, lead singer of the band Drowners, in 2014 for a two-year, on-again-off-again relationship.
But none of these past relationships has been as public as her current relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. As Showbiz Cheat Sheet previously reported, the two have been dating since 2017, and while very private when it comes to public appearances, their relationship has been confirmed by Johnson’s mom Melanie Griffith. And sources say Johnson gets along with Martin’s ex-wife, Gwenyth Paltrow.
Only Johnson can comment on her sexuality; her fans are ecstatic either way.
