When the idea for Dance Moms first came about, the producers had no intention of making Abby Lee Miller a focal point. However, when they got wind of her big personality and saw her contentious relationship with some of the cast members, they knew they’d stumbled onto something special. Throughout the show, Miller got into verbal spars with nearly all of the mothers featured in the series. However, there were two moms that she argued with the most.

Abby Lee Miller had a tense relationship with some original members of the ‘Dance Moms’ cast

Fans of Dance Moms will recall that Miller had extremely volatile relationships with Christi Lukasiak and Kelly Hyland. In fact, Lukasiak maintains that the choreographer deliberately tried to keep herself, Hyland, and their kids from auditioning for the show. Hyland, Lukasiak, and Miller would often trade insults on the show. However, the Abby Lee Dance Company owner once accused Lukasiak of something particularly heinous.

The Abby Lee Dance Company owner accused Christi Lukasiak of exploiting her daughter

In certain episodes of Dance Moms, Miller alluded to the fact that Lukasiak’s daughter, Chloé, was more interested in being a celebrity than a dancer. However, in a letter that she penned to Channel Guide, the dance teacher accused Christi of exploiting Chloé in order to make money.

“Ms. Acken – please write about Christi Lukasiak pimping her daughter Chloé out to make a quick buck,” Miller wrote. “Check out her umpteenth Meet & Greet somewhere in upstate NY the first weekend in October – and don’t forget to bring your $106.00 to meet them! That’s the price you and 500 others will pay to spend an hour chatting with Chloé! I think you get a T-shirt which cost five dollars.”

The choreographer was upset that Chloé Lukasiak requested payment to use her image

Continuing on, the Dance Moms alum claimed that Christi requested money to use Chloé’s image on a program for her studio. “I’m not the bad guy – I’ve been teaching dance for 32 years,” Miller shared. “Chloé has been my student since she was 2 1/2 years old… it was a goal for her to appear on the cover of our Annual Dance Concert Program – this year she wanted [to be] paid!”

This was far from the first or last time that Miller made disparaging remarks about a dancer’s parents using them for financial gain. In season 5 of Dance Moms, JoJo Siwa was hosting a master class for dance, and Miller caught wind of it. She then took the opportunity to confront the “Boomerang” singer about it.

Miller also made a similar comment to JoJo Siwa in ‘Dance Moms’ Season 5

“What do you know about being a master instructor?” Miller asked Siwa. “I think you really have to be careful with the word because a master teacher is somebody that has earned that title. So because some kid wants to make a quick buck on the weekend because daddy doesn’t earn enough money, that’s not really a master instructor.”

Clearly, Miller had lots of opinions about what her dancers, and their parents, chose to do on their own time. And considering her remarks, it’s no wonder that she continued to have issues with the rest of the Dance Moms cast.
