‘Dancing with the Stars’: Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy Reacts to Pros Predicting Her and JoJo Siwa to Win [Exclusive]
Multiple Dancing with the Stars pros are predicting Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy and JoJo Siwa will win the Mirrorball Trophy in season 30. Showbiz Cheat Sheet spoke with Johnson Chmerkovskiy over the phone to get her thoughts on the DWTS semi-finals. Plus, we asked Johnson Chmerkovskiy how it feels knowing several of her pro dancer cohorts think she and Siwa will take home the season 30 win.
Cheryl Burke and other pros think Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy and JoJo Siwa will win ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 30
Cheryl Burke, who hosts the Pretty Messed Up podcast, had fellow pro Witney Carson as a guest. Together, they talked about who could potentially win the Mirrorball Trophy in season 30.
Carson admitted that Burke and Cody Rigsby, Amanda Kloots and Alan Bersten, plus Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach were all worthy of the win. Ultimately, though, Carson and Burke see the win going to Siwa and Johnson Chmerkovskiy.
Britt Stewart, another Dancing with the Stars pro, agrees. “This season is so hard to predict,” Stewart told Showbiz in October 2021. “I think JoJo and Jenna have great potential to be Mirrorball Champions this year. If anything, I definitely think that they will get into the finale.”
Carson and Burke have both won the Mirrorball Trophy. Stewart is a newer pro, but that doesn’t mean she can’t spot a winner! When Showbiz spoke with Stewart during season 29, she predicted The Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe would win — and she did! Will Stewart be right again regarding the season 30 winner?
The ‘Dancing with the Stars’ pros’ prediction ‘mean the world’
When we spoke with Johnson Chmerkovskiy, we filled her in on her colleagues’ predictions for the season. “Wow,” Johnson Chmerkovskiy reacted. “It honestly means the world to me. I feel like I trust the female pros on this show with my life … that means so much coming from them.”
Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy wants to ‘enjoy every second’ of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ semi-finals
As Johnson Chmerkovskiy explained during our call, semi-finals are more intimidating than the Dancing with the Stars finale. In her opinion, there’s more pressure during semi-finals.
This season, Johnson Chmerkovskiy is trying not to let the pressure get to her. Having won a Mirrorball in season 26 with Adam Rippon, the DWTS pro knows what it takes to achieve the win. But when Johnson Chmerkovskiy danced with Nev Schulman in season 29, she felt “so focused on the win,” she didn’t “enjoy every second.”
“[Nev and I] ended up getting second and it just hurt so much and I couldn’t move on from it,” Johnson Chmerkovskiy revealed to Showbiz. “I completely lost all the enjoyment that I had in the finale.”
But this time, Johnson Chmerkovskiy says she has a different mindset. “I want to enjoy every second and not put that pressure on myself,” she shares, adding:
“I feel like [that feeling has been ongoing] this whole season with JoJo. We’ve always been focused on doing better than we did the week before and trying to push the boundaries with each of our dances and doing something that people are going to talk about.”
If anything, Johnson Chmerkovskiy wants to put forth something fans are going to be talking about for years to come. “But obviously it would be pretty epic to get that Mirrorball,” she concludes.
