Danica Patrick Reveals How Heartbroken She Was Over Aaron Rodgers Split
Former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick hasn’t said too much over the last few months about her split with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers but now she’s revealing just how heartbroken she really was over it.
Here’s what the Pretty Intense podcast host said about her feelings after her breakup with the NFL star and what she posted on social media after hearing about his engagement to Shailene Woodley.
What Patrick said following their breakup
On July 16, 2020, Patrick’s rep released a statement that the former race car driver and Packers signal caller were “no longer together.”
Patrick did open up a bit about moving on and “pain” a few months later when she was a guest on The Rachel Hollis Show.
“I said this at the beginning of the last relationship. I was like, ‘Look. You either grow together; one grows and one doesn’t or you grow apart,” she told Hollis. “I have never experienced growth without pain.”
Patrick admits she was ‘broken open’ after split from Rodgers
In April 2021, she talked more about how upset she was after she and Rodgers broke up.
“I think we learn the most about ourselves through relationships, but there’s nothing like heartbreak to really throw you in the deep end of that,” Patrick said on an episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls as reported by Page Six. “But I’ve learned a lot and as broken open as I was on the sad end, I have felt so much joy in so many more instances and so many more unlikely places than I ever have, so it’s like my heart got broken open to both ends of the spectrum.”
She added: “[My dad is] always super proud of me. My mom, too. My sister. I’m really fortunate that I have a family that’s super supportive. You gotta have someone you can fall apart with, you know?”
Her message following the news of Rodgers and Woodley’s engagement
Wedding bells are in the future for Rodgers and Woodley. The athlete first revealed that he was engaged during a speech following his MVP win at the annual NFL Honors.
“It’s an honor to win this award for the third time,” he said. “2020 was definitely a crazy year, filled with lots of change, growth, some amazing, memorable moments, 180 straight days of having my nose hairs scraped, playing for very little fans or no fans the entire season, I got engaged, and I played some of the best football of my career.”
Rodgers went on to thank his fiancée but didn’t mention her name. Two weeks later, Woodley appeared on The Tonight Show and confirmed that she and the quarterback are set to walk down the aisle.
Days after the news, Patrick took to Instagram with a post about relationships writing, “Your relationships are mirrors. We can’t receive what we don’t believe. (I made that up right now but I am sure I’m not the first.) We see all of life through our own personal lens. What you seek is seeking you. You get what you think you deserve. When you change, things you see change. Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.”
