Daniel Radcliffe got to work closely with co-star Channing Tatum in The Lost City. And after seeing his kindness and work ethic up close, Radcliffe thinks Tatum could be the “world’s nicest man.”

Paramount Pictures The Lost City stars Sandra Bullock as Loretta Sage, a romance novelist who gets kidnapped by Radcliffe’s eccentric billionaire Abigail Fairfax. Tatum plays Alan Caprison, a cover model who tries to save Loretta to prove he’s more than just a pretty face.

Radcliffe, who’s most known for his heroic role in the Harry Potter film series, takes on his first villain role. And it’s something he was excited to explore.

“I think intense is always fun and people with that kind of pent-up energy that this guy has is definitely something I can relate to,” Radcliffe told Yahoo recently. “I like to think that’s where the similarities between me and this guy end because he’s pretty terrible. But it’s a huge amount of fun to play a guy like this.”

“A villain in itself is fun,” he added. “But a villain who is desperate for you to think he’s cool and desperate for people to like him even as he’s doing terrible things to them, to me was very funny.”

Channing Tatum kept Daniel Radcliffe from falling off a boat in ‘The Lost City’

Radcliffe and his The Lost City co-stars filmed the action adventure in the Dominican Republic shortly after lockdown protocols were lifted. In an appearance on Good Morning Britain, the actor revealed how excited the cast was to work together on the movie. And when asked about Tatum, he praised him for his kindness and his aptitude for stunt work.

“He is the world’s nicest man,” Radcliffe said. “He is also genuinely the most physically capable actor. I’ve worked with stuntmen that know him really well and they’re like, ‘He’s better than us at some stuff.’ He’s made to be an action star.”

Radcliffe recalled how Tatum’s generous spirit and stunt experience came in handy on set. He revealed that one of his early scenes required him to stand on the road edge of a boat. And to make sure he didn’t fall off, Tatum hid to the side and held on to him without appearing on camera.

“The first day, I was on a boat, and I was trying to look cool in a suit,” Radcliffe shared. “And it was very very choppy waters, and I think they were worried about me going over the side on my first day.”

“So you don’t see it in the film,” he added. “But Channing was on that boat also sort of doing stunt safety for me, just like leaning and grabbing my leg.”

The Lost City was filmed in the real jungles of the Dominican Republic during the summer of 2021. Radcliffe told Good Morning Britain that keeping him looking fresh in a suit was a chore. But he noted he didn’t have it as bad as Tatum and Bullock

“I was very sweaty and it was a job to keep from looking just drenched the whole time,” Radcliffe recalled. “But I also had a much easier time of it compared to Channing and Sandra and the crew. They were doing long weeks in the jungle and I was coming in every so often for two or three days a week.”

The Lost City is currently playing in theaters.
