‘Daredevil’ Star Charlie Cox Is Reprising His Role as Matt Murdock in the MCU; Will Jessica Jones and Other Defenders Join Him?
Ever since Netflix canceled all of their Marvel television shows, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher, many fans have wondered if and when the stars would reprise their roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, thanks to Kevin Feige, we know that Charlie Cox will reprise his role as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, in a future project. But will the other Defenders, like Jessica Jones, follow Daredevil into the MCU?
Kevin Feige teases Charlie Cox’s return as Daredevil to the MCU
While promoting Spider-Man: No Way Home, Kevin Feige, confirmed that Charlie Cox would play Daredevil again in the MCU.
Feige told CinemaBlend, “If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen.”
Many Marvel fans celebrate Charlie Cox’s performance as Daredevil. And ever since Netflix canceled his show, fans have advocated for his return to the franchise. Now, three years after Daredevil ended, Feige finally confirmed that Cox is not done playing Matt Murdock.
As the president of Marvel Studios said, it’s unknown when or where Daredevil will pop up again in the MCU. But, hopefully, when he does, it will be alongside his fellow Defenders.
Will Jessica Jones and the rest of the Defenders join Daredevil in the MCU?
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist all starred in their respective MCU shows before uniting to fight the Hand in The Defenders. And after the series aired, fans have been waiting to see the superheroes team up again.
It’s unknown and probably unlikely that all four of them will share the screen in their own series in the future. But now that Charlie Cox is headed back to the MCU, it’s possible the others could join him. Plus, we can’t forget about Jon Bernthal’s fantastic portrayal of Frank Castle in the Daredevil spinoff, The Punisher.
Screen Rant asked Kevin Feige about the possibility of the Netflix Marvel superheroes returning in future projects. He said, “I always say that whenever a character comes back into the Marvel sandbox, it becomes another tool in the storytelling ability of the MCU. As I said before, the good news is, all will be revealed when people actually finally watch.”
Of course, Feige, who is known to be one of the most secretive people in Hollywood, didn’t divulge any details regarding the return of these Netflix characters. But after the news that Daredevil is coming back to the MCU, it’s only a matter of time before Jessica Jones and the others follow suit.
Charlie Cox may appear as Matt Murdock in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’
As Marvel fans know, many rumors regarding different characters have plagued Spider-Man: No Way Home. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are allegedly reprising their roles as Peter Parker in the film. And many reports state that Charlie Cox plays Daredevil in the upcoming MCU movie.
Cox has denied these rumors numerous times. However, now that we know that the actor will play Matt Murdock again, he may be in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The only way to find out if the speculation is true is to see the movie when it comes out.
The MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, rumored to star Charlie Cox as Daredevil, premieres exclusively in theaters on Dec. 17.
