The Dark Side of Stanley Tucci’s Marriage to His 1st Wife Involved a Public Relationship With Edie Falco
Acting since the early ’80s, Stanley Tucci isn’t as familiar to younger generations. Regardless, the former model’s cooking videos have become a thirst traps for many fans. Tucci’s public persona is built on wholesome vibes. But the Murder One actor has lived through surprising Hollywood drama in the past. While still married to his first wife, Tucci had a relationship with Edie Falco. The ordeal still sticks with him to this day, but he and Falco have both moved on.
Who was Stanley Tucci’s first wife?
Social worked Kathryn Tucci (née Spath) already had a connection to the film industry through her first marriage. Her ex-husband was Alexander R. Scott, an actor/stage manager who was the oldest son of actors Colleen Dewhurst and George C. Scott, reports InStyle. Kathryn and Scott had two children together before separating. She and Stanley married each other in 1995 and had three children of their own: Camila and twins Nicolo and Isabel.
Something in Stanley and Kathryn’s relationship changed around 2002 when he began working with Edie Falco. The two actually went to the same college, SUNY Purchase in New York. But The Devil Wears Prada star was gone by the time Falco started attending. Regardless, Tucci’s success in Hollywood made him a star alum for aspirational students.
“There were posters everywhere: ‘Stanley Tucci!’ Like the captain of the football team that they all still talk about,” Falco remembered in a 2018 interview with Vulture. “He was like the boy who made good. He started working on Broadway immediately out of school — the shining example of what we all wanted to be.” In the early aughts, fate brought Stanley and Falco together.
Edie Falco and Stanley Tucci’s relationship began in the theater
In 2002, Stanley and Falco co-starred in the Broadway rendition of Frankie and Johnny. The production began with the two of them completely naked on stage.
“This play is about how two people who are having sex, and there’s sort of no way to make an audience believe it if when you get out of bed you have your clothes on”, explained Falco to The New York Times. She didn’t foresee complications with the nudity, saying, “[Stanley] is in love with his wife and family, so it’s not as weird as it might be were that not the case.” That’s the responsible thing to say, but it’s not how it played out.
There was no announcement or fanfare, but Stanley and Falco began attending media events together so often that it was clear the two were dating. The couple remained private, so it’s unclear where their partnership began and ended.
But Falco revealed in a 2004 New York Times profile that they were no longer together. “We were together and then we broke up. Because there’s no way for that to be a good thing. He’s a lovely man, and he’s back with his wife and kids, and I’m thrilled.”
Stanley remained married to Kathryn until she died in 2009 after a battle with breast cancer. He married his second wife Felicity Blunt in 2012. They welcomed their first child, a son named Matteo, in 2015.

None of Falco’s other relationships have been as public or salacious. According to The List, The Sopranos star dated writer-director John Devlin for a few years in the late ’90s before they broke up in 2001.
She is currently single, but that hasn’t stopped Falco from starting a family. She adopted two children, a son named Anderson and a daughter named Macy. In line with the rest of her personal life, the Nurse Jackie actor has kept her kids away from the limelight, but it’s nice to know she and Stanley are happy in their separate personal lives.
