Dave Grohl’s Infidelity Led to His 1st Divorce
Musician Dave Grohl made an unforgettable mark on music as the former drummer of Nirvana and the lead singer and guitarist in Foo Fighters. Unfortunately, in September 2024, he admitted to being unfaithful to his wife, Jordyn Blum, and fathering a child outside of his marriage. He and Blum were married for over 20 years before the news hit the media. Before his marriage to Blum, he had a short-lived marriage to Jennifer Youngblood. Here’s what happened during Grohl’s younger years.
Dave Grohl’s infidelity led to his first divorce from his wife, Jennifer Youngblood
Before September 2024, Dave Grohl was viewed as a committed family man. He and his wife, Jordyn Blum, met in 2001 and tied the knot in 2003. They have three daughters together and keep their relationship largely out of the media.
Before Grohl met Blum, he was married to Jennifer Youngblood. Youngblood was reportedly a photographer when she met Grohl, and the couple tied the knot in 1994. The marriage didn’t last long. They separated in 1996 and officially divorced a year later. There are very few photos of the couple, and Grohl hasn’t said much about his first wife. However, in 1999, he reflected on the romance in the British magazine Melody Maker.
“I was 25, my wife was even younger,” Dave said, according to NME. “We weren’t ready to get married. I miss her a ton; she’s the funniest godd*** weirdo you ever met in your life. Absolutely adorable. It would have been better had we not got married. But you live, and you learn.”
So, what happened between himself and Youngblood? According to The Guardian, in 2007, Grohl admitted that infidelity led to his first divorce. After he and Youngblood went their separate ways, Pat Smear left Foo Fighters, as he was a close friend of Youngblood’s. Smear and Grohl later reconciled, and Smear joined a Foo Fighters acoustic tour in 2006.
Dave Grohl posted to Instagram in September 2024 about having a child during an affair
Dave Grohl made a shocking admission to Instagram on Sept. 10, 2024.
“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” he wrote. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved as we move forward together.”
Grohl and his wife, Jordyn Blum, tied the knot in 2003. She was a TV producer and model at the time. She also assisted the Foo Fighters with several projects, including directing the “Walking a Line” music video.
He retained a divorce attorney before making his 2024 announcement
A source told People that Dave Grohl attained a divorce attorney before making his Instagram post regarding his infidelity and baby. It’s unclear if this means Grohl and his wife, Jordyn Blum, are planning on divorcing, as Grohl states in his Instagram post that he wants to “regain” the trust of Blum and their three kids: Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10. Grohl’s oldest daughter appears to have deactivated her Instagram account since the news hit the media.
Grohl and Blum were recently spotted at Wimbledon in July 2024. The rocker stepped out in a suit and tie with brown Gucci loafers, and he tied his hair back into a neat bun. Blum wore a short-sleeve collared blue dress. There was no indication that the couple was in distress at the time.
