Dax Shepard Really Wanted a Prenup With Kristen Bell But Ultimately Said ‘No’
When it comes to celebrity couples, few are more transparent and open with their fans and in interviews as Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard. The couple first began talking when they ran into each other at a hockey game, and though Bell has said it wasn’t love at first sight, they did hit it off fairly quickly.
When they met, Shepard was more successful than Bell, but she has since surpassed him in fame and net worth — a development Shepard is completely at peace with.
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard don’t have a prenup
Bell and Shepard met in 2007. Shepard proposed in 2009, despite previously not believing in marriage. They made a choice; however, to refrain from getting married until 2013 when the marriage equality fight was finally won in California. They had a small courthouse wedding and did not opt for a prenuptial agreement.
Shepard got honest about his initial feelings on getting a prenup during an interview with Conan O’Brien in 2018. At the time, he said, he was making more money than Bell and owned his own home so he “really really” wanted a prenup, but ultimately said no when Bell asked.
When O’Brien asked why he didn’t say yes to a prenup, even though he wanted to, Shepard’s answer was telling: “Because something good came over me for once and I made the right decision.”
Shepard had made poor decisions with Bell in the past, namely breaking up with her very early on in the relationship because he wasn’t sure he was in the same place as her commitment wise. Just a few days later he realized he made a mistake and the two have been together ever since they reconciled.
Bell carries no resentment over the breakup and, on the contrary, was appreciative of it. She felt it meant he respected her too much to play around with her feelings.
Kristen Bell now makes more money than Dax Shepard
At present, Bell’s estimated net worth is $20 million, while Shepard’s is around $12 million. Not only has Bell been crushing her TV career as the lead characters on The Good Place and the now-completed Veronica Mars, but she’s the voice of Anna in the Frozen films.
Shepard is finding a different sort of success of his own with his popular podcast Armchair Expert. The show has over 183 episodes and counting where Shepard interviews celebrities about the “messiness of being human.” The show was formerly hosted along with actress Monica Padman, who has moved on to acting as co-host of the podcast’s newly launch offshoot show, Monica & Jess Love Boys.
Shepard is not at all bothered by his wife’s success and even joked with O’Brien in regards to the lack of prenup: “But the joke is now on her because she’s become much more successful than me and has much more money than me,” he smirks and adds mischievously, “or does she?”
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard started a business together
Bell and Shepard have two children together: Delta and Lincoln. The couple, and Bell, in particular, have spent a lot of time and energy researching the products that they use on or around their children to make sure they are safe and sustainable.
At a certain point, they realized this wasn’t enough. Sure, as wealthy celebrities living in California, they could be sure they had the best products for their children, but what about everyone else? Cue: Hello Bello.
Bell and Shepard co-founded Hello Bello together with one goal in mind: to provide premium baby products for all. By partnering with Walmart and starting production of their natural baby products on a larger scale, they claim their products are a third less expensive than other premium baby products. Hello Bello specializes in what’s called “lotions and potions” which includes diapers, wipes, sunscreen, bug spray, and related products.
