‘Days of Our Lives’ Comings and Goings: Rex Brady Leaves, Craig Wesley Arrives
On this week’s Days of Our Lives comings and goings, we say goodbye to one recurring character, and hello to a few others. Kyle Lowder has wrapped up his latest stint as Rex Brady. However, Kevin Spirtas will be on the canvas for a short while. Spirtas will be playing Craig Wesley, and he’ll be playing an important role in upcoming episodes of the show.
Kyle Lowder is off the ‘Days of Our Lives’ canvas for now
On July 21, Days of Our Lives star Kyle Lowder took to his Instagram page to share a valuable teaser. First, he took to his Instagram stories to share that he was in the hair and makeup room for the hit NBC soap. Then, he shared a post with the caption “back to work.”
According to Soaps.com, Lowder’s last appearance on the canvas was tied to Sarah’s disappearance. “The last time Rex was in Salem, Kristen disguised herself as Sarah, broke Xander’s heart, “reunited” with Rex, and then promptly dumped the latter, as well,” reports the outlet. “As for Sarah, Kristen shipped Xander’s love off to a deserted island, and she hasn’t been seen since.”
Unfortunately for Days of Our Lives fans, Lowder wrapped up his run as the popular character this week. However, the door is “always open,” according to the network, for him to come back and reprise the role.
Kevin Spirtas is on the canvas
Meanwhile, according to SoapHub, Kevin Spirtas is on the Days of Our Lives canvas this week. The soap opera veteran — who also had a role on One Life to Live — has been playing Dr. Craig Wesley, off and on, for several years. Spirtas is also a veteran of Broadway who recently starred opposite Hugh Jackman in The Boy From Oz.
Another fun fact about this versatile actor is that he was known as “Kevin Blair” (because his given name is Kevin Blair Spirtas) until 1995. After that, he changed his professional name to Kevin Spirtas.
As for his Days character, Dr. Craig Wesley was last seen on the Last Blast Reunion, which was seen on the show’s proprietary app from 2019 to 2020. Spirtas will be on the canvas beginning on Jan. 21, but it’s unclear how long he’ll be on the canvas for this run.
Other ‘Days’ comings and goings
There are other Days of Our Lives comings and goings to be aware of this week, as well. Ellen Crawford, best known for her role in ER, will continue her role as the Mother Superior this week. Fans can also expect to see Jay DeVon Johnson as the judge in EJ’s case. Fans will see him again on the Jan. 20 episode of the show, when the trial picks back up again.
Prior to starring on Days of Our Lives, Johnson was a distinguished member of the armed forces.
