Days of Our Lives has featured the messy love lives of the residents of Salem for decades. But now, a fan-favorite character — Rafe Hernandez — has just made things get messier for himself. Torn between his best friend and his lover, Rafe will have to make a choice. And the latest speculation suggests that his best friend, Nicole, will finally become a whole lot more.

On ‘Days of Our Lives,’ Nicole originally gave up her friendship with Rafe
On past episodes of Days of Our Lives, Rafe swore that he was “just friends” with Nicole. But he had a really funny way of showing it. After all, eating ice cream in bed with your “bestie” isn’t exactly a “just friends” move.
“Nicole and Rafe will finally confront their feelings for each other,” we reported. “Does this mean that they’ll be more than friends? And what does that do to Rafe’s relationship with Ava? The price he’ll have to pay — and all the other drama and speculation — will definitely unfold on upcoming episodes of Days of Our Lives.”
The fact is, both Rafe and Nicole knew that Ava was capable of doing a lot of damage to both of them. But they’re reaching a point that they just don’t care.

If there’s one thing that Days of Our Lives fans know, it’s that Ava is capable of raising hell. As was previously reported, Nicole ultimately decided to end her friendship with Rafe, albeit only temporarily. And that’s because, ultimately, she wanted to save the man she loved.
“Nicole will “make a decision” regarding her future with Rafe and Ava,” we reported. “Nicole will end her friendship with them both to avoid causing any more drama. Nicole’s reasoning for ending her friendship has to do with the feelings between her and Rafe that continue to grow. This may be her last-ditch effort to stay as “just friends.” But will it work?”
In a nutshell, the answer is: no, it didn’t. And on upcoming episodes of Days of Our Lives, Nicole and Rafe will finally become more than friends.

Days of Our Lives fans would do well to tune in to the Sept. 28 episode of the show. At that time, Soaps @ SheKnows reveals that Nicole will be incapable of hiding her feelings for Rafe. So much so, in fact, that EJ will figure out “who her heart yearns for.”
And this is further confirmed by SoapHub, whose spoilers suggest that Nicole will finally confess her true feelings for her best friend. EJ already knows what Nicole is desperate to hide. But there’s some speculation that they will finally consummate their relationship on Sept. 28 or Sept. 29. But then, the question begs itself: where will that leave Ava? We already know that she’s a Vitale princess — there’s no way she’ll let her man go without a fight. (Or a poisoning.)
Now, this is all just speculation. Who knows whether Nicole and Rafe will finally become lovers? We’ll just have to tune in to upcoming episodes of Days of Our Lives to find out.
