Galen Gering is a fan favorite on Days of Our Lives. He has been playing the character of Rafe Hernandez on the show since 2008. And, lately, his character has been getting some great storylines, with the latest one involving a love triangle between himself, Nicole, and Ava. But recently, he made an Instagram post that has some fans wondering if he’s tested positive for COVID-19.

‘Days of Our Lives’ does not have a COVID-19 vaccine mandate

In October 2020, The Hollywood Reporter said that Days of Our Lives had to shut down production after a cast member tested positive for COVID-19. The outlet confirmed that filming shut down for two weeks while the cast member — whose identity wasn’t revealed — recovered. The rest of the cast had to quarantine, as well.

The good news was, Days didn’t have to worry about falling behind in the production department. That’s because they had a lot of episodes already in the bag. “Days of Our Lives resumed filming on Sept. 1, making it the last of the four broadcast daytime soaps to turn the cameras back on,” reported the outlet. “That was in part because Days had many more episodes already banked than its counterparts, CBS’ The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful and ABC’s General Hospital. While those shows ran out of new material in the spring, Days — which works months ahead of its air schedule — had enough episodes to last until October.”

Despite this scare, Days of Our Lives does not have a vaccine mandate in place. And, as was previously reported, The Bold and the Beautiful does not have a vaccine mandate in place, either. The only daytime soap to have a vaccine mandate in place is General Hospital.

Galen Gering sparked rumors with a recent Instagram post

On Jan. 5, Days of Our Lives star Galen Gering took to Instagram to post photos in the Alabama Hills of California. He captioned the photos, “seems like a good place to be if one had Covid.” This, immediately, sent fans into a flurry of speculation.

He neither confirmed nor denied his status

Many fans sent along their good wishes and hope that Gering “get well soon.” “So many people have COVID right now,” wrote another fan. “[I’m] sending prayers for everyone getting better quickly.”

Interestingly, though, the Days of Our Lives star neither confirmed nor denied if he tested positive for COVID-19. Some fans thought it was a joke, made to reference the colorful rock featured in the last slide of the post. So far, Gering hasn’t commented about his status.
