‘Days of Our Lives’ Vet Rhonda Stubbins White Dead at 60
Some sad news, today, for Days of Our Lives fans. Rhonda Stubbins White, who was best known for her role on the soap and in Tyler Perry productions, has died. The actor was 60 years old, and she died of ovarian cancer, which she had been battling for some time.
Rhonda Stubbins White: Her early life
The late actor was a native of Brooklyn, NY. According to The Daily Mail, she graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1982. But although she graduated from such a prestigious school, it took her until 1992 to get a major on-screen credit. At that time, she was cast in a role on the show Here & Now.
White then moved to Los Angeles, where she got roles on ER, NYPD Blue, and Crossing Jordan. But she really broke through into the mainstream when she landed a role on the HBO miniseries, Laurel Avenue. At that time, she was nominated for a CableACE Award.
Soap opera fans, however, know her best for her role on Days of Our Lives.
She played Lady Vi on ‘Days of Our Lives’
White had a recurring role as Lady Vi on Days of Our Lives. As the proprietor of the soul food restaurant, Lady Vi’s Soul Food & More, Lady Vi was always in the thick of drama on the show. She was always on hand to dispense wisdom and sweetness, and always with a smile.
In recent years, however, White was better known for her role in the Tyler Perry show, Ruthless. And White loved her role on the show.
“I am heartbroken to have this extremely talented actress who was kind in every way-leave so soon, not only as a client but as a friend,” said Valerie McAffrey, White’s manager, in a statement to Fox News. “She had just finished working on Tyler Perry’s ‘Ruthless’ which she had an amazing experience on and was on a resurgence in her career.”
Most recently, White also landed a starring role on the hit Showtime dark comedy, Shameless. She landed that role in 2019.
Her friend announced her death on Facebook
Two days ago, a friend of White confirmed the Days of Our Lives death on Facebook.
“It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my dear friend Rhonda Stubbins White,” wrote Todd Baker. “She was an amazingly talented woman, full of positivity and energy, and grounded by her faith. We were all fortunate to have known her and shared her short time on this earth. A memorial is currently being planned with a potential Zoom Livestream.”
Days of Our Lives will always remember White and her role as Lady Vi on the show. But Rhonda Stubbins White was also a talented actor in many other productions, as well. And her career is to be commended.
