It Looks Like Deadpool and Cable Will Be Getting Their Own Team in an ‘X-Men’ Spinoff Movie
With the success of Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, 20th Century Fox is looking to capitalize on their ownership of the X-Men. Ryan Reynolds’ comedic genius turned Deadpool into a smashing success, and now Drew Goddard has been tapped to write and direct X-Force, an X-Men spinoff that will feature both Deadpool and Cable.
Goddard is known for his work on The Martian, as well as for adapting another Marvel superhero, Daredevil, for Netflix. Though not much is known about the new project at the moment, we do know that Reynolds’ Deadpool will be back on the big screen this month alongside Josh Brolin’s Cable for Deadpool 2.
Since we don’t know much about X-Force just yet, we took a look at rumors and exciting confirmed information for Deadpool 2.
The original cast returns
Much of the original cast of Deadpool will be returning for the sequel, including Vanessa, Dopinder the cab driver, Blind Al, Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Weasel. Each character had a role in the original movie that helped advance the plot. Vanessa brought out the softer side of Wade Wilson; Dopinder served to help him get from location to location; Weasel and Al as comedic sidekicks; and Colossus and Negasonic as the heroic yin to his yang.
With the introduction of Cable, it’s hard to know what the role of each of these characters will be. We imagine it will be similar to the first movie, because so much of what made the movie great was Wilson’s interaction with his pals. As for Mr. Pool himself, Reynolds apparently kicked the workouts into extra gear in preparation for the movie. It sounds like our favorite red anti-hero is going to be absolutely ripped.
