They didn’t actually have a funeral for their pop music
To be fair, it’s expected that any artist’s music and sound would shift and transition over the years. But an Instagram post had many of Demi Lovato’s fans raising their eyebrows.
There’s no question Lovato has stepped away from their pop-inspired past, but would they go so far as to have a funeral for their former songs? That’s what many fans believed when Lovato shared a photo on Instagram with the caption, “A funeral for my pop music.”
Not to mention, some publications began sharing and building on the funeral-inspired narrative. However, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Lovato cleared up the matter.
Asked about the so-called funeral, the star clarified, “It honestly wasn’t a funeral. It was a label meeting, and we just all happened to be in black, and I was like, ‘Wow, this is like a funeral for my pop music.’ There wasn’t an actual funeral.”

Demi Lovato’s new music for 2022
Lovato’s new music is worth a listen. They gave their fans a sneak peek when they premiered “fiimy (f**k it, i miss you” this past February.
The collaboration features Matthew Koma and his alt-rock band, Winnetka Bowling League. Lovato and Koma, Hilary Duff’s husband, have worked together in the past, and from the sounds of it, they should keep doing it.
Speaking about their new music with Rolling Stone, Lovato explained, “There’s a bit of … and when I say heaviness, I don’t mean lyrically, but heaviness as in some of the sound that I haven’t done before, which is exciting. It’s a new era reminiscent of my first era.”
TheThings confirmed that Lovato shared that the album will be out sometime in 2022, but no official date has been announced. In addition, the artist has been hinting that fans can expect their return to rock — in every sense of the word.
