Demi Moore Recalls How Nervous Bruce Willis Was When He Asked for Her Number: ‘His Hands Were Shaking’
Bruce Willis may be known for his tough-guy persona, but when he’s around Demi Moore, he becomes a nervous wreck. At least, this was the case on the night they first met. In Moore’s recently published memoir, she recalls how much of a gentleman the actor was during their first encounter. And when he asked for her number, she realized endearingly that his hands were shaking. “All that bravado was gone,” she said.
Demi Moore says Bruce Willis was the first real gentleman she had ever encountered
Moore recalls how much of a gentleman her former husband was when they were together. According to the Ghost actor, Willis was always eager to open doors for her and pull out her chair.
“I’d never encountered treatment like this before,” Moore writes in her memoir. “Bruce was so gallant- in his own boisterous way, a real gentleman. When I said it was time for me to go home, he offered to walk me to my car. He was so eager about it- Like a little boy who didn’t want to miss the ice-cream truck. “
Bruce Willis was shaking with nerves when he asked for Demi Moore’s number
Willis may be known for his machismo, but he is all about old fashioned chivalry when it comes to wooing his love interests.
“When he asked for my number, I felt a wave of schoolgirl flutters,” Moore writes.
And as he wrote down her number, she noticed that “his hands were shaking. He was so vulnerable in that moment. All his bravado was gone.”
Willis reveals why he fell in love with Moore in an interview with Vanity Fair.
“It’s her face,” he says, recalling the first time he set eyes on Moore. “I fell in love before I even talked to her. She’s just a very charming girl. The girl you saw in Ghost is what I fell in love with. She’s so open and honest and not afraid to be vulnerable.”
Why did Demi Moore and Bruce Willis get divorced?
Moore and Willis seemed like the perfect pair. They were even labeled “the hottest couple in Hollywood” at one point. So why did they ultimately get divorced after over a full decade of marriage? Moore says that there were several reasons for their split. One of them was because Willis wanted to be the sole breadwinner in the family, while Moore stayed at home with the kids. Another reason was that she suspected Willis of cheating on her with his co-stars while he was off filming.
Yet luckily, their story still has a happy ending.
Willis and Moore are just as close now as they were when they were married. In fact, according to Moore’s memoir, they are more connected now than ever.
“It’s a funny thing to say, but I’m very proud of our divorce,” Moore revealed. “I think Bruce was fearful at the beginning that I was going to make our split difficult. But I didn’t, and neither did he…We felt more connected than we did before the divorce.”
