Demon Slayer Season 2 had no shortage of epic moments scattered throughout its Entertainment District Arc, with the anime’s latest chapter throwing all-new obstacles at Tanjiro and his friends. And although Demon Slayer‘s lead isn’t ready to join the ranks of the Hashira just yet, he boasts some pretty big moments in the latest outing. In particular, these five Tanjiro scenes stand out the most.

[Warning: This article contains spoilers for Demon Slayer‘s Entertainment District Arc.]

1. Staying on the mission after Tengen’s dismissal

One of the best things about Tanjiro Kamado is his insistence on doing the right thing, and Demon Slayer‘s lead does just that when Tengen Uzui dismisses him from their current mission.

In Entertainment District Arc Episode 4, Zenitsu disappears suddenly. Assuming he’s already dead, the Sound Hashira tells Tanjiro and Inosuke to take off before they get hurt, too. Naturally, they don’t listen.

Instead, Tanjiro holds out hope that his friend is still alive, right along with Tengen’s three wives. He returns to the mission knowing the risk — because that’s the type of protagonist Tanjiro is. And it’s exactly why fans love him.

2. Tanjiro’s one-on-one fight with Daki

Tanjiro’s one-on-one match with Daki isn’t the flashiest fight from Demon Slayer Season 2, but it still marks one of his best moments. For one, it gives fans the opportunity to see his Sun Breathing technique in action. And even if his new ability will take more time to master, this glimpse of it was enough to get fans hyped for what’s to come.

Additionally, going head to head with Daki highlights how much Tanjiro has grown since joining the Demon Slayer Corps. Although he couldn’t take on both Upper Moon 6 demons solo, it’s impressive that he managed to hold Daki off for so long on his own.

Of course, this fight also leads to Nezuko’s big season 2 transformation — and that’s just another reason we’re grateful for its existence.

3. Saving Hinatsuru from Gyutaro

Tanjiro’s fight with Daki leaves him completely drained of energy, and that makes it difficult for him to help his friends when the other Upper Moon 6 demon arrives. The Entertainment District Arc reveals that Daki and her brother Gyutaro both hold the title, and Gyutaro is the more powerful of the two opponents.

But even though Tanjiro is depleted when Gyutaro shows up, he finds the strength to protect Hinatsuru from the demon. When the Upper Moon 6 goes for Tengen’s wife, Tanjiro uses every bit of strength he can muster to get her out of harm’s way. It underscores what kind of character he is, and it also proves he’s more powerful than he thinks.

4. Tanjiro’s joint assault with Inosuke and Zenitsu

Demon Slayer fans have been waiting for a team-up between Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu — and the Entertainment District Arc delivered on that front.

While Tengen Uzui attempts to take out Gyutaro on his own, the trio works together to remove Daki’s head. And although Inosuke is the true star of this moment, Tanjiro and Zenitsu both flex their speed and strength to make an opening for their friend to strike.

This scene is likely to leave viewers cheering, even the second time around. Hopefully, we’ll see these three in action like this more when Demon Slayer Season 3 finally arrives.

5. The final stand against Gyutaro

Tanjiro may not take down Demon Slayer‘s latest Big Bad on his own, but he plays a prominent role in Gyutaro’s demise. The climax of the Entertainment District Arc sees Tanjiro outsmarting Gyutaro — and holding him off long enough for Tengen Uzui to jump back into the fray.

From there, Tengen and Tanjiro defeat the Upper Moon 6 demon together. And their final stand is stunningly animated, with voice performances that highlight the stakes and passion behind everything happening on-screen. It’s no doubt one of the best moments from the entire season. And it’s one of Tanjiro’s biggest victories yet.

All episodes of Demon Slayer‘s Entertainment District Arc are now streaming on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu.
