Since the news of the Dexter revival, fans have been speculating about what he’s been up to and what’s next for the former blood spatter analyst.

We know Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) has struggled to control his “dark passenger” since his self-imposed exile. But does that mean he’s killing again? Viewers will obviously have to wait until the show airs to find out what exactly happens, but one fan thinks they just spotted Dexter in the act.

[Spoiler alert: This article contains a possible spoiler for the Dexter revival.]

The ‘Dexter’ revival is in the works

Showtime announced in October 2020 that it was bringing back the hit crime drama, which ran for eight seasons from 2006 to 2013. The show ended with Dexter faking his death and attempting to start over as a lumberjack, but the revival isn’t picking up from there.

“Set 10 years after Dexter Morgan went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, the revival sees the character now living under an assumed name in a world away from Miami,” reads the show’s logline, per Entertainment Tonight.

The revival doesn’t have an official release date just yet, but it is expected to air in the fall of 2021.

A fan thinks they spotted Michael C. Hall in a scene from the revival

Dexter Season 9 began filming earlier in 2021 in different parts of Massachusetts, according to the local news outlet The Grafton News.

As production continues, a fan took to Reddit with a leaked video that they think shows the aftermath of a kill. In it, a man believed to be Hall tosses a large sack into an incinerator-like machine. Camera equipment and crew members can be seen in the background.

“Looks like without a large body of water to dispose of his victims, Dexter has taken to some sort of incinerator,” the Redditor wrote in the comment section. “Filmed in Shelburne Falls, MA in early April.”

Fans shared their excitement for the revival in the comment section, but to be clear, the clip is unverified. Showbiz Cheat Sheet reached out to Showtime for comment on the video but did not hear back by the time of publication.

It does, however, seem like Dexter will indeed kill again

As much as he tried, it doesn’t look like Dexter was able to overcome his darkness. A teaser trailer released in April pretty much confirms that, as it shows him seemingly holding someone hostage in a cabin.

Dexter was last seen in Oregon. But at some point, he’ll end up in New York, where he’ll face villain Kurt Caldwell (Clancy Brown).

Per TV Line, Caldwell “realized the American dream by going from driving big rigs, just like his father did, to now owning several trucks and the local truck stop. Powerful, generous, loved by everyone — he’s a true man of the people. If he’s got your back, consider yourself blessed. But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for, God help you.”
